Dear Prom Guru's

I have a question.
I have a 86 MAF TPI that I am converting to SD. Now I know that the MAF and SD cars used a different Knock Sensor. However, since I am going to be tuning and will have access to constants.. Can I just change the constant that the '730 ecm expects or does this adversely affect the ESC ? thanks in advance for your input.

Re: Dear Prom Guru's

I take it you are going to use a '7730 ECM? If so the reason for the different knock sensor is that it has a lower resistance. This allows the ECM firmware to measure that resistance to ensure that the sensor and wiring for it are intact.

However, you can change some parameters for that test and have the higher resistance sensor pass OK.

I'm using the 730 ECM and the SD 305TPI 5 speed memcal/chip you sold me. I just want to use the MAF-style Knock sensor since its already in the engine. I'm using the chip / memcal you sold me as the basis

Re: Dear Prom Guru's

You would be better off swapping the ks and using the memcal I sold you. Or you can use the tpi maf memcal. You will need to use the maf esc and wire the signal to B8 of the ecm.
I have soldered in a 3.9k resister on the memcal to make this work. I will not post all the information here about that. I have been burned bye trolls before that take things and run to ebay to make a buck. Pm or email me on the details on the resister.
