Oxygen Sensor Monitoring

Guys,

Running shorty hedmen headers and a single wire O2 sensor. Had to add a ground wire to get rid of idiot light and get a reading from the O2 sensor. Now monitoring the ECM and the O2 reading is all over the board, is that normal? Added a zip with the V5 file in case anyone can help me to figure this out. Not sure if a hotwire setup would fix this or if there is something else causing the O2 reading to jump all over the place.

Get a 3-4 wire ... I put shorties on my bird and O2 wouldn't get hot enough to go into closed loop unless u were driving at 2000+ RPM ... Heated is the only way to go fixed a lot of driveability and tuning issues for me

Re: Oxygen Sensor Monitoring

Just installed my 3 wire oxygen sensor and what a difference. Car does not have a high idle forever on start-up or cold days and no more surging at a stop lights when the motor comes back to an idle. Need to hook up the laptop and monitor it.

Re: Oxygen Sensor Monitoring

Good to hear, I need to do the same thing. Where did you connect the heater into?

Re: Oxygen Sensor Monitoring

First let me start by saying I am not an electrician nor an electrical engineer.

I tied into the factory fuel pump relay by the brake buster only because I am running an external racetronix fuel pump wiring harness and a walbro 255 fuel pump. Now the factory wiring harness and fuel pump relay are now only used as a power source for the new racetronix relay, that is why I felt comfortable tying into there. I read many people on TGO tied into the MAF line but for my setup this seemed cleaner and better.

I don't have a picture of my setup and connector soldering job with me but here is a picture of my racetronix wiring harness coming off the alternator. This also was a great upgrade for my IROC.

Also, here is a picture of the relays I found online.
