H/C/I SD TPI Spitting fuel out of tail pipes

Hi All

Recently got some AFR 180cc, a 268XFI Cam and ported TPI fitted to my '90 GTA TPI (speed density). Oh and some 1.6RR and 25lb blue tops

car is running pig rich to the point its spitting unburnt fuel out of the exhaust and a hunting idle around 600-850rpm. Is that just because it needs a tune or something mechanical amiss?

I considered the setup to be on the mild side so thought it would at least be driveable as is but I'd be leaving some hp on the table without the tune. I'd be surprised if I'm getting double digit mpg at the moment

thoughts welcome

Bloody hell mate, yes, needs a tune bad. The cam will lower the VE at lower RPM, and increase it at higher RPM. The injectors are flowing 15% more fuel then the stock ones.

Moving to the DFI & ECM board.

RBob.

Re: H/C/I SD TPI Spitting fuel out of tail pipes

thanks.

I read about people going for H/C/I swaps and some massive injectors and clicking off 11s down the drag strip all on standard tune!

But yeah, it's guzzling at the moment. Just hope I don't have a leaky injector (new ones are 24lb btw, my bad above) or a broken afpr.

I've got in contact with Scott Hansen of Tuned Port Injection Induction Prog. Services. I know a mail order tune isn't the best but given my limited (read 'no') knowledge of tuning, this should hopefully get me back on the road. I can datalog and start thinking in 1's and 0's later on

thanks, Dynamic EFI seems to be the way to go. Self-learning feature is a big plus.

I'll pm Rbob
