One quick MAF to MAP knock sensor clarification question

So, when jumpering wires E and C at the ESC module, I understand what I'm doing is making this wire continuous from the knock sensor to the ECM. What I'm not sure about is, do these wires get clipped and joined from the harness, or do they stay intact and jumpered while still connected to the ESC? Thanks.

Re: One quick MAF to MAP knock sensor clarification question

c to e to make the wire continuous the esc can be thrown away you know module is on the memcal in the 1227730 ecm. you will need the correct knock sensor for you engine assuming you are staying with the Lb9 and running a axxb or something you can use acdelco 213-96

Re: One quick MAF to MAP knock sensor clarification question

Thanks for the quick reply! So by just changing to the right knock sensor and following the pin changes from 165 to 730 seen in the write up in the tech section, it'll work? What if I'm using a G3 connector with custom PROM but V6 MEMCAL on the piggyback?

Re: One quick MAF to MAP knock sensor clarification question

Never mind about the second part of my question. I just confirmed the V6 MEMCAL will have the wrong knock filter on it. I'd need to program all knock function out of my PROM. Alternatively I'd like to find the right MEMCAL since I plan to go forced induction in the future and, even naturally aspirated, I'm not too keen on going sans knock function.

Re: One quick MAF to MAP knock sensor clarification question

Um.. The prom thing yeh. A v6 memcal will work if you solder a jumper on the memcal for cylinder select pin 56 of the memcal to ground the closest is 62 . your knock frequency with the v6 memcal will not work with a v8. If you are using a g1 moates adapter and $8d mask you will be set. The axxb is on sale on amazon.com right now but you will need to use your g1 and reprogramed eprom to bypass vats. ac delco 16163062

you can use your g3 and stack .bins as well, and yes follow the swap guide from 165 to 730 pretty easy.

Re: One quick MAF to MAP knock sensor clarification question

Awesome! Thanks for all the info. The AXXB was at a great price and I picked one up for knock functionality. As seen in this tread, https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...questions.html, I started with an AXXF bin, and made the following changes:
Re: A couple MAF to MAP questions
I don't quite understand it either I really don't know what I'm doing yet but...Here it goes again. Thanks for sticking with me on this. I started again from scratch with the AXXF not using AUJP because my car is a 305. This time I made less changes. I think I did VATS and AIR disable well. I'm pretty sure I did the fan activate/deactivate temperatures ok. Not sure if I did enough or too much on the canister. I'll research VSS more for the changes I need. Here's the log file:

Re: One quick MAF to MAP knock sensor clarification question

for the vss input you can change the setting to optical and just use the brown wire on pin a10 on your 165 and goto pin c6 of the 730. This changed starting from address 00006 - 00008 from 17 A6 to DB 09
