F.A.S.T timing table question
aright my car at idle is reading 40 degrees of timing from the light....on the table its reading 34 degrees.. so my question is are the figures supposed to be the same?

Yes they should read the same. To sync the distributor run the vehicle at 2500RPM, check the timing table, if it is in a section that for exmple is 34 deg. check your balancer timing and it should also be 34. If it is not adjust your distributor to correct. (This is if you do not use crank trigger)
At idle the timing will fluctuate too much to verify accurate timing.

not trying to hijack this thread but I also have a FAST question for you. WHile running a realtime datlalog, I notice that while the car is running at idle, the lb/hr. reading flucuates from 12 to 9. Is this right? I am expericancing some serious issues with this engine. It will not rev. it just falls flat on its face. it will idle but the engine shakes a bit. The timing is set to 6 but then reads 10 ATDC when the EST wire is plugged back in.

I also have the last datalog saved if someone can make sense of it or tell me what are normal readings and then maybe I can compare "normal" reading to mine.
here are some of my readings while the car is idling 3 seconds into the run:
RPM 600
MAP 83
BPW(ms) 7.0
coolant 152
MAP(psia)-2.6
air temp 242
actual A/F 15.69
TPS 11
Fuel #s/hr 7.8
battery 13.1
Lambda 1.04
Spark(*BTDC) 21.50
inj. DC% 3.6

Check the wire diagrams.....you could have possibly crossed the air temp and water temp....

are you running stand-alone or piggyback? I take it you are running piggy back
RPM is too low
IAT is too high, depending on ATS table it is probably leaning it out. For the temp to read that high, your either pulling some real hot air or more likely the IAT sensor is shorted to ground. Disconnect sensor and see if reading changes to -40 or so
BPW looks a little long at idle, but don't mind that yet
Have you set all of your operational parameters?
Is this FAST or XFI?

I am running a stand alone setup. it is a bank to bank FAST setup. not the newer XFI one. I am going to buy a new sensor and see what happens. The one I was using with the TPI setup didnt plug into the FAST harness. The plugs where alomst identical but not the same. I had to take an old sensor out of a spare Y air let setup I had lying around from an older car.
as far as global parameters, I have set them to where they should be. the shop gave me a disk to download and save and all the correct sertting where in there for me. I am going to have it towed to the shop tomorrow

Maybe I can help a little. I also run a FAST system.
What does your iat sensor read when the engine is stone cold after sitting over night ?( key on but engine not started)
a new sensor cant hurt :')
if you want, send me a copy of your current tune up (GCT) and a data log file. to plumber (at) budweiser dot com
what cam shaft and injectors are you using.
thanks
Doug
