who makes the best chip?

Im planning on swapping out my L98 for a ZZ4 but I will be keeping the TPI. I dont want to start burning my own chips because I am not the most computer intelligent. So who makes the best prom than I can just swap in? The reason I dont want to get into burning my own is because this will be basically my only change. So who does a good job? thanks.

If you're anywhere near oklahoma, Ed Wright of Fastchips in Tulsa is one of the best, he'll do dyno-tuning and get the chip perfect. However, he's done a lot of chips so if you just told him what your setup is he can probably make you a good chip and send it to you. Expensive, though, 500 for dynotuning and 350 for regular.

Well going from the L98 to a zz4 and keeping the stock restrictive intake isn't just a single change. It's more like, heads, cam, rods, pistons, oil pump, etc. Lots of changes.
The best would be whoever is local. Find a speedshop with a dyno and a wideband o2. If you spend the money on the diy stuff I'm sure there are people on this board that'll give you help on what to change. I think there is even a guy that did exactly what you did and he's got bin files on his website for when it was still using the 165 ecm and then after he went to the 7730 ecm.

At the bottom. But read heed his warning in bold.

Atmels are good but AMDs suck. Last time I checked the AMD 2732a eproms don't fit in the stock carrier. What were they smoking when they thought they would be cool to make it wider?!?!?!

My friend has an 89 IROC with about 400 hp. Not too long ago he had problems with eratic idle and had previous experience with Fast Chip. So he talked to Fast Chip, they sent him a form to fill out with his modifications, car, and problems he was having. So he filled it out and sent it in. For about 400-450 dollars they sent him a custom computer chip, he hasn't had problems since. Fast Chip has a web site if you want to check them out. That's what I would do.

While it's still stock I'd suggest you start playing around with doing your own.

You'll never get any one to be able to tune your car to run it's best with filling out forms, or talking over the phone.

Just start with reading the DIY PROM area posts and trying to make sense of what's going on, it ain't rocket science.

Your not the only one, and others have lived thur the experience. LOL

takes some time and effort but once you get the hang of it it ain't at all bad.

With all the commercial stuff available it's not at all hard to get going.
