Over the years i have run an aftermarket fixed blade fan but want to go back to the original setup,, clutch fan and GM blade type.
how many blades did the original blades have i see advertised 5 and 6

i dont need advise on what i should have all i need is an original setup.
i am not running A/C or any emissions.

Re: 305 Fan Blades

Thank you for this Amazing set of specifications. And fast reply.

I was running a 400ci sbc +040 and down here in summer it can reach 118f

winter here is not a problem and while we get a dozen or so frosty mornings i have not seen snow in my lifetime.

I had a huge 4 core brass radiator built in 2001 until now and used a big 17 inch fixed blade fan that really done a number
i also ran a big 15 electric inch push fan on the front that cut in at 160f.

I just bought a nice 383 that dyno ran at 472hp and 431Tq
the engine builder i use reccomended me to put an original clutch fan back on as it will give me another 6 to 10 hp.

they arent running like a windmill all the time. and work perfect.
I just purchased a brand new Shroud / radiator Cowl and will order the fan and new clutch hub today.
The original was in my Shed but i cant find it since i moved.

Re: 305 Fan Blades

I live in a desert climate and love my original clutch fan set up. It gets just as hot here but even in daily traffic my engine remains around 180-190.

Re: 305 Fan Blades

Dear Member
Thank you again.
just a quick note,, do these cars in a 5.0 carby car have a thermal clutch fan that cuts in and out on temperature the clutch picks up on

or is it a fixed 1:1 fan

apparently these cars had both.
my view is they were mainly thermal and what i need. as i will pick up HP over the fixed units like i was running.

Re: 305 Fan Blades

I think only non-AC stickshift 82-83 cars got the old 1950s type rigid 4 blade fan along with underdrive WP pulleys.By '84 seems they all had the clutch fan and overdrive pulleys.Certain non-AC cars also did not have a full fan shroud-just finger guard/upper support bracket.
