Is it possible to use an electric water pump on a full street daily driven l98? I've heard people have mixed results with it i just want someone to clarify

i would say it would overheat as it's a constant flow and doesn't change with rpm

I never had a problem with my Proform water pump in my 383 and I used to get stuck in Providence RI traffic on 95 all the time.

I have a electric in my LT-1 Impala SS and it runs fine. Just my O2, I know its not an L98.

It will keep it cool just fine... But reliability comes into question

I have had a csr pump fail on me in less than a yr and that was not a daily driver. Wellll under the 2500 hr life they quote yet it died on me and luckily for me i caught it as i monitor my gauges frequently while driving

It rose from 195 normal temps to 230+ in a few seconds. Be careful if you go with one

Hard part is rerouting accessories for it to work. I had march performance electric water pump kit which is outrageous in price to begin with. Its just power steering and alternator and new crank pulley

Only way i would go electric is if you are full race looking for every ounce of power, or trying to set a bolt on L98 et record lol

Yes, every last ounce of power is tempting but my thinking on having one is the feature you would have on those boiling hot days and you're doing laps at the strip. At one time my fans were wired to a manual switch (as well as via the sensor) and it was handy to switch them on will the car was parked and pull some heat out of the rad. Having a the fans and pump would keep the engine reasonably cool I would think.
As for the bolt-on L98 record.....

Yes cooling between rounds? It works fantastic. But for a mild setup thats daily driven, its more of a risk.

And you shouldnt be racing much in the hottest days anyway unless you are a bracket guy on weekends that has to run each week

What, it's a grandpa car, lol

Can't even write that with a straight face.

It breaks loose in first and second but cruises at 70 like 2000 RPM.

For what it's worth:

No experience with an electric pump on an L98, but I've got an electric water pump cooing both my LT1's. My 84 isn't a daily driver,... but my 95Z pretty much is. ( gets used often - but not a whole lot of mileage ) Both electric Water Pumps have been installed for about 3-4 years and I've never had any issues with either car. I've got the Water Pumps relays' 'switched" power circuit connected to the fuel pump,..... so when the cars are running - the water pumps are pumping. I though about wiring in a manual toggle, but never needed to wire it that way.
