time for a new radiator.
Well iv had an issue with me car using coolant recently. Decided to pressure test my radiator and found both plastic tanks are leakings. My heater hose on the intake is leaking, and my goose neck where the hose is clamped on it slightly leaking at 17 psi. My question is, I'm looking at the auto zone radiator for our cars. It only runs $90 but would I be better off going to a two or three core radiator? I'm running a vortec 350 now with the single electric fan. Only plan on upgrading the ehxuast and cam down the road. Would the OE radiator work fine for me?

Some would probably say the stock replacement is fine. I would say go with a 2 or 3 core all aluminum rad. I went with a 2 core all aluminum one and im glad I did. With the quality of some of the aftermarket or "OEM" replacements going downhill, i wouldnt trust the plastic endtanks.
Each person will probably have differing experiences with aftermarket parts but the choice is up to you.
Mine was a Silla radiator btw.

Re: time for a new radiator.
I went with a one row all aluminum Silla from Genesis Auto Parts. My 305 TPI is staying stock so I didn't need the additional cooling of 2 or 3 rows. I dont see how a 2 or 3 row fits in that crammed in space anyway. For me it seemed worth it to spend a little more for no plastic even though Sillas are Chinese made (that surprised me).
Here's a link to their page with some that will fit your 86:
http://www.genesisautoparts.com/all_....7l_v8_350.htm
and check this page for Genesis promo codes that can possibly save you some more money:

Genesis says 'Our radiator will fit right into you vehicle with no modification required on your part.'
Mine was a 1/2 taller than the plastic stock one but it fit, thankfully.

Re: time for a new radiator.
I would go with the $90.00 stock replacement. They come with a limited lifetime warranty so if it does not work for you just take it back.
I replaced mine with a stock replacement by Murray and it has worked perfectly.
I have a 180* stat. with two adjustable fans. One kicks on at 190* and the other at 200*.
Even in traffic it rarely reaches 220*
The radiator works so well because of the large fans and the 180* stat.
Its a package deal.
I have diagrams that you probably have seen. (I have posted them enough) of adjustable controllers that are very easy to install and costing $ 20.00 in parts.

Re: time for a new radiator.
Well I work for auto zone so I'll get my discount and a different radiator if I have problems. And iv got my fans wired to ignition so I don't have to worry about that. Just have to get my radiators switched lol

Re: time for a new radiator.
Stock is fine. My original and radiator cooled my mildly built 355 with no problems. Downside to stock radiator is the tanks are plastic and crack and cannot be fixed but usually they have a lifetime warranty. I went aluminum for looks, it's repairable and can weld to it.
