Temp Sensor Wire
Hey guys, my issue is that I cannot find the wire that connects to the engine temperature sensor that is screwed into the driver side engine head. Based on my searches through the message board, it seems that the wire is a solid, dark green wire that plugs into the sensor. I cannot locate this wire after extensively searching through my wiring harness etc.. The sensor was unplugged when my headers were installed and the connector for the fan sensor on the passenger head was broken, but this I don't think is an issue as the previous owner hardwired the dual fans to run at acc. Pictures of where this wire runs such that I can find it and pictures of what it looks like will definitely help as I could not find any pics to trace the wire in other posts.

Re: Temp Sensor Wire
Should be in the harness that runs down the driver's side valve cover next to the runner. Single dark green wire.

Thank you for your quick reply sofakingdom, I just checked and the only wires in that harness are the wires for the fuel injectors and the alternator...any pics or other suggestions?

Look under the header.
Mine wasn't hooked up when I bought my car. It ended up it was melted. I had to reconnect it and ran it under the exhaust manifold. I had to wire tie it up to prevent it from burning again. The wire comes out from behind the drivers side head, look there.

Solid Information - It Isnt Solid
You didnt include the engine VIN (just the one letter or number)
therefore this is slightly generic: You are looking for a yellow wire, and a black wire for your CTS.
The Coolant Fan SWITCH located on the RIGHT side of the engine is the one that gets the green wire with the White stripe.

Re: Temp Sensor Wire
Yellow & black are the CTS for the ECM. Usually in the intake manifold.
Green w white on the pass side is the fan switch.
The temp gauge sending unit gets a dark green (no stripe) on the driver's side. Has been that color since they started using electric gauges in the 50s. The sending unit has been in the driver's side head of V8s since the small block came out in 55. The factory has been wiring them basically the same for all these years as well; but after 20 or 25 yrs of no telling how many hackjob POs, anything could be anywhere in your particular situation. All we can do here is tell you where it started out its life at.

Re: Temp Sensor Wire
Hey Jonesyfxr, Nina, and Sofakingdom thanks all of you for your responses...I was finally able to find the wire...I located it on the main harness directly behind the driver side head as Jonesyfxr mentioned and it was a single, dark green wire as Sofakingdom specified. I traced it and it was running along the side of the engine block way down close to the bottom of the engine and was hard to see from the top side of the engine because of the slanted v shape of the engine block.
Again thanks for all the input!! now finallyy....
