305 to LS1 temp sensor

Does anybody know how to connect water temp sensor on a third gen camaro? I swapped from a 305 to LS1 and I know I'm supposed to use a 3wire connector but I only have one wire coming out the car for cooling system And of course all wires on the sensor pigtail are black. Anyone??? Any help is appreciated

LS1 sensor is for the ecm, and people drill and tap that heater plug for the 3rd gen temp sensor
