1989 vs. 1988 Coolant Overflow Tank

I'm have an issue with the overflow tank on the 1989 IROC. I would like to purchase a new one, but have been told that GM does not make ones for the 1989 cars. Apparently you can still get a 1988 overflow tank, but they are different.

Can someone shed some light on the subject? Can I put an '88 tank in an '89 with minimal modifications?

Thanks!

yes its fairly simple I went 87- to 89(larger) and now its splitting on top so I'm going back to the 87 style
