Coolant overflow jug = what push in clips to use?

i have an 87 z28. i need new push in clips for the coolant overflow jug since i bought a new one and the clips i bought dont work, they look the right size but they pop right out and the jug falls. does anyone have either the gm part number for them or just know the right size clip that i would need? thanks for any help!

Did u try napa or carquest? They usually have a good selection of miscelanious (?) Plastic clips? Or u can do like I did...go to sears hardware and get a couple chrome allen head bolts and washers and bolt it in. Looks way cooler!

Re: Coolant overflow jug = what push in clips to use?

i went to painters supply, a paint/body shop near my house and they had one that looked like it would work but it was $18.25 for a box of em! and in my further research they were for a mitsubishi.... i dont know if i want that in my camaro. i work at autozone and we have some 5/16" clips that i think would work but they have a philips slot in the top and i like the look of the smooth ones better. i know, im insanely picky but im building this car one part at a time. i may go with what you said though, get some bolts and nuts and just bolt it in. we sell some flange bolts that look oem.... hmm.... i can even tack weld a captive nut on the backside and then itd REALLY look oem... if no one else has any ideas ill probably do that thanks =)

Re: Coolant overflow jug = what push in clips to use?

3 reasons I used the chrome bolts...my clips were shot when I took them out. 2nd, since my car is black and some of the engine parts were already painted silver, I'm trying(mostly) to keep a black and silver theme under the hood. 3, any bolt I can replace with chrome or stainless is getting replaced. And like I said, they look really cool! Just be sure to use pinch nuts. Btw, just out of curiousity, did you try you local chevy dealer? I have a friend in the parts department at a dealer and I am sometimes really supprised what is still available for our cars from GM. Good luck!

Re: Coolant overflow jug = what push in clips to use?

i actually tried the dealer first, i live across the street from a big chevy dealer and they have a really nice parts department. they gave me some clips to try for free but they didnt work, but the good news is my dd monte is missing a few and they should be perfect for that =D i thought about trying the j yard but i really wanted to use new hardware so thats what i did, i bought some new black oxide 5/16 flange bolts and nuts at work today and ill hopefully put em in sunday or monday. looks like they should work and you really wont be able to tell theyre not original when im done im hoping. ill put some pics up when im done!
