Do you miss you A/C and/or heat??
I'm doing a BBC swap and wanted to clean up the engine bay a little bit, make things look cleaner, and easier to work on. I've done a couple searches and still can't decide whether I want to take out my A/C and/or heat? I live in northeastern Ohio so the weathers kinda crazy. Just chime in with where you live, daily driver or not, and if you miss your whatever. Thanks!
Edit: My A/C didn't work before I started the overhaul, and I've kinda been leaning towards getting rid of it so parts are all over my attic haha

I live in MN, only drive the car on nice days. I removed the AC because it wasn't working anyway. There was a few days last year I did regret getting rid of the AC it was just too hot to drive it unless I was on the freeway with the roof off. If I ever move to Florida in the future it will have to be my winter car.

I just don't know wheter to pull it or not. Last summer here in OH we had a couple weeks of with a few days of just blistering hot heat. The A/C went out in my civic and I thought I was gonna die. But in years past my dad and I have gone summers in his truck with no ac (it was broke) and we were fine

Re: Do you miss you A/C and/or heat??
I live in TX, so even the "roll the windows down and go fast" thing sucks. The heat from the sun on you without tint sucks, doubly with t-top cars. This year is my first time having a working A/C car and I finally don't have forearms that look like they belong to 2 different people...

I to live in TX, but have removed the AC on my daily driver. There are definetly days that I miss it but every time I have to work on it I like not having all the extra mess in my face. I saved all of it with the intensions of putting it back on once I am happy with all the changes I have been doing to the engine and chasis. Not that it matters but I am originally from MI and my GTA never had the AC working but I did use the defrost on most spring & fall days

I can see it if your car is a ttop car. But i live in florida, and mine is a hardtop car its a living hell without AC in my bird. I went without AC for one summer in my truck though and i hated it so much. But i bought my bird with working AC and I love it, and i intend on keeping it once i do my ls swap. I like to have the best of both worlds i guess you can say. But everybody has the personal opinions.

Re: Do you miss you A/C and/or heat??
I decided I am gonna keep the heat for sure because in OH theres days where I start with the heat and defroster on, switch to A/C, and back again. But I've read and posted on a few threads, and now I'm thinking I'm gonna leave a/c off till I get my car where I'm happy with it and only routine maintenance is required... Maybe an in-dash unit, like what Vintage Air makes. and then get rid of all the vaccum crap and stuff, and make everything as clean as possible. I turn 17 in a month and I figure I can deal wiht no A/C for a year or so.
or put the A/C back in with an LSX swap....

Even T top cars suck with no a/c if your sitting in any kind of traffic on a summer day. I'll never ever ditch an a/c system on a daily driver as long as I live. Its simply not worth it. The weight loss is negligable and if you have any sort of mechanical abilities it doesn't get in the way of anything.

I'm a diehard T-top guy! If I can't take the tops out, I don't ride! My A/C went the way of the trash can years ago, and I never regret it. Even with 100+ degree days last summer, never do I miss A/C!
Heat - I would keep - especially in OH. Don't see why BBC would mean no heat - the A/C delete box should fit fine with a BBC wouldn't it?

Yeah, I checked today and half my A/C stuff is missing or misplaced since I moved garages. So now that its a matter of gathering/buying/replacing rather than just keeping it in, I'm gonna leave it off.

Re: Do you miss you A/C and/or heat??
I live in NY, and the weather is retarded up here. It'll be 90 plus in the summer and in the teens in the winter. I'm not intimidated by the extra few parts in the engine bay, so i'm leaving it. I'm going to convert and fix the "slow leak" I want that AC just in case I'm going to pick up any girls. No girl is gunna ride in a car that has no air conditioning unless you are surrounded by 100 dollar bills filled up to the door sills. But, that's just my 20 year old mind working. I still wouldn't take away from the originality of the car. Factory stuff stays.

In time man, my dad is always criticizing me for inheriting his "rusty nail". I fix one part, and another breaks. But, i know that eventually i'll finally restore her. Plus, our cars are slowly going up in value. Now that our cars are considered classics and some even antiques the value will skyrocket in a few years. No more 8 grand or 2 grand. I had a dealer ship offer me 30 grand for my car. Felt awesome. I learned to be patient with the car, sometimes it pisses you off but after you get something done the feeling last for a while.

Re: Do you miss you A/C and/or heat??
30 grand would be awesome, maybe when our car value goes up and the 5th gen value decreases do a lil switcheroo and do the same thing but with a 5th gen and so on and so on....

Re: Do you miss you A/C and/or heat??
I turned the guy down tho. He told me to my face that I was "insane and immature" But, yeah, swapping will be a possibility soon. The guys on Mecum said our cars are starting to go up in value. Plus, a lot of the third gens are junked or in horrible shape. The few good runniing ones will be worth the most.

Re: Do you miss you A/C and/or heat??
The spirit of muscle cars will never die. Gas prices will never destroy ingenuity.People don't want econo-boxes, they want power and a nice car that will attract women/men. People like to show off, and they like to compete. Can't show off in a ***** that has a giant wing and sounds like a leaf blower. Besides Japan ****ed themselves for another century or two with their idiocy of not fixing the nuke plants. Mazada already shut down. Toyota and Honda are next.
