Champion Radiator trans port size question
I'm wanting to run -6AN transmission cooler lines and need to know the size of the port on the stickied Champion radiator so I can find some whatever size/-6AN converters.
Anybody done this already? Know the size?
Thanks,
Jon

Re: Champion Radiator trans port size question
Wrote the seller and he said they are G 1/4" (which is BSPP). Having a heck of a time finding a direct converter to -6AN...unless I wanted to go to a 1/4" NPT and then to -6AN :-/
Doing some more digging - it looks like the lines are 5/16, and may use 1/2"-20 inverted flare thread. Luckily, there are adapters for this. Time to order some parts.

Dont use the cooler in the radiator? just run a bigger external cooler with fans. that's what I just did. I mounted mine in the front passenger corner of the car under fender area, with fans on it.

Re: Champion Radiator trans port size question
I would if I could. I even have the biggest B&M cooler ready to go on with the adapter fittings for AN....it wouldn't fit between the condensor and the crossbrace. Being that this car is going to be more of a driver anyway, I'd like the condensor to get as much air as it can (and mounting on the corners there is iffy as it scrapes quite a bit).
I'm hoping the in-radiator cooler will suffice, and if not I'll buy a /much/ smaller external cooler to add to the system.

Re: Champion Radiator trans port size question
I say it wont be effiecient I highly believe that was the cause of my last transmission failure inadequate cooler in transmission. I'll take a pic of my setup tomorrow. it does not hang too low. I even made an air dam for it to help push the air thru it even more. The fans are mostly for low speed. They have a chart about transmission temperatures. A 170 degree transmission will last over 100,000 miles. every 10 degrees takes mileage off that. I dont know what mine is running at but I am going to install a gauge to see. I do know that I never lose shift continuity. I am running the BM supercooler part# 72066 if im not mistaken.
