fan relay location--87RS 2.8
Anybody know where the cooling fan relay is located on an 87 RS --2.8L/700R4--single fan?
I know on my 89 IROC dual fan they are by the battery.
Did a search and found that on some cars, it might be on the drivers side firewall, but not sure.

On the firewall by the brake booster, I believe the fuel pump relay is there also

Somebody educate me--why is it by the battery on my 89 IROC dual fan, and on the drivers firewall on some models--is it single vs dual or year or what?

Re: fan relay location--87RS 2.8
I'm clueless about the battery location, maybe one of
the historical guru's can shed light.
Everything I've ever seen is what bilms posted -- one OR both
fan relays are located next to the fuel pump relay by the
brake booster. I believe the fuel pump is 5 wire, cause it
has an interlock circuit. Fan relays are definitely 4 wire.
If you need more info, PM me, and I'll break out the service
manual wiring diagrams for my 90 formula.

Re: fan relay location--87RS 2.8
Thanks --I'll do that--but I think I'm good!
I had to replace the cooling fan motor on my wife's 87 RS yesterday, but in normal trouble shooting procedure, checking the relay was at the top of the list. I traced the wires back to the loom that went back to the firewall on the passanger side, and never did find the relay, so I cut the wires to the fan motor, spliced in a set of jumper wires, and the fan motor did NOT run, so I got lucky.
If the motor had run, I would have either torn the wiring apart tracing the wires, or more than likely, come in and sit down in front of the pooter and see i I could find the relay location here on the cooling tech board.
