anyone know where to get a decently priced aluminum radiator? mine is seriously screwed, after my car almost overheating the rad was only hot on top, and cold on da bottom, pretty sure that means i need a new one. anyways, any help would be appreciated.

i didnt even bother with his links, i have already looked on ebay. I was hoping someone knew an online shop that sold them new, for a decent price.

BTB Mr Dude- I posted the 4 cyl. ad because it is a online radiator shop, indicating they may have the correct radiator.

I didnt mean to be harsh about it, its just every time i post a question, some witty jerk (no offence swerve) decides he should post his ramblings about how people dont search first and dont look on ebay for this crap.... I was looking for a new radiator, and i dont want to deal with some ebay shop that carries "basically new" radiators. I did do a search first, and i didnt find anything promising, so i was hoping to find someone that knew somewhere or someone who can get them for cheap...

sorry about sounding like a dick and all, i appreciate that u were trying to help swerve, im just sick of ppl telling me to do things ive already tried.

anyway im done rambling, back to work *mutters*

supposedly the griffin 31x19 aluminum radiator works in our cars with a little work to make fit.

i stuffed a generic BeCool radiator in my 82.. all i did was measure the space that the old one was in....


athough i do recall having to cut a corner of the lower sheetmetal off for more room around the hose.. and i had to "tweak" everything to make it fit... but that was mostly because i got the biggest that would fit in there.

the griffon fits but it takes a lot of effort to put it in... cheesex did it on his car and i saw it... man that thing is big...

The following is a copy of an e-mail--should probably be posted in "product review"--but fits here. This guy sells custom built rads for almost any application. He usually has some on E-Bay from time to time. Mine was $385.00 for a custom built aluminum 2 row with 1 inch tubes. As good as any "BE-Cool" I have ever seen including shipping (I think). He normally lists products under "Radman 1953"

Just wanted to let you know that I finally got the radiator installed that I got from you for my 89 IROC Z Camaro. It wasn't a complete "bolt-in" like I thought it was going to be, but it was a minimum of work. Because of it being thicker I had to modify the top shroud (the bolt holes were about an inch too far apart from lining up. If I had the resources (or was worried about cosmetics), I probably would have made a new top shroud from aluminum. As it was, I used some perforated strap and speed clips on the middle 2 bolts, and just drilled a couple new holes for the 2 outside screws. I also had to grind small clearance notches at each end to fit over the side tanks. I did have to space out the factory dual fans as you said I might have two. I used 3 5/16 washers in between the fan and bracket on all the holes, for spacing it back Everything else fit very well--IE: it dropped into the radiator hole/space perfect! Hoses matched up just fine.

With A/C on just normal driving around town, it would get up to 230/235 (if I let it). Now it runs about 205 (195 on highway) in same conditions--without A/C it runs about 195 (185 on highway) with a 180 t-stat, and this is with putting the fans back to the original OEM wiring, instead of hot wiring one or both to run whenever ignition is on.

I know with all the different rads U build, U can't remember minor details about all of them, so if U want to save this e-mail to refer to or send to a perspective customer, U certainly have my permission!

Thanks for saving me $200/300 over a "Be-Cool" version. It was a real pleasure doing business with you, especially with U taking time to answer ALL of my questions

I have the generic 31 x 19 Griffin dual 1" core radiator...It fits with minor effort in my opinion. I had to notcht the lower support to clear the tanks. I am using Spal fans and made my own simple upper hold down so all that made my swap even easier...You could retain the stock fans and the upper support by simply cutting and fitting as neccessary...Have fun


BTW, it works great...
