hi again,third gen heads!
i changed my heater core,works fine -except now the good old thing doesnt go to the desired air flow direction!i put 'er on the floor and it blows out of all the vents ect.....but she(no, not her) blows weaker because of the problem!
could it be some seals or something needs greased--pretty layman sounding isnt it?! HELP! brad

Changed mine last week and it does about the same, A/C is ok, but everything else blows out the defroster vents. weird.

sounds like u guys disconnected a vaccum hose. the ones that control the blend door (there is like 3 or 4 i think. they are colored..) . and therefore it's stuck on one setting..

Several of us are in need of talking about how these doors are supposed to be working. I think I understand the basics, but do the third gen cars require much refurbishing on the doors? I think mine may need resealing. I seem to be trying to cool additional hot air. Any help?

when putting everything back together, you may have pinched a hose. try to look above ecm and see if any hoses are pinched. best of luck, tom....keep us updated.

Update on question of maybe pinched hoses: Had a good look under the hood at the heater-ac box and found out what looks like the main culprit to my problem. I live in Australia and the car had been converted to right-hand drive. They tend to do a short cut version on some of these cars and mine was one of them. The steering post goes right thru the heater-ac box. It goes thru on the lower right hand side of the box. I went to a convertor and he said the proper way to fix it was to remove the upper part of the case containing the evaporator and attempt to seal it from the inside. He said the insulation had probably deteriated causing the major leak. Also some of the insulation might be dislodged and interfering with the flow of air to the inside. There is a lot of air escaping this area and I intend to do as he said. My question: Is there enough room between the evap. and the box to tackle this leaving the evap. in place? When I say lower right side, I mean looking at it from the front end of the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
