A/C Acting Wierd
Okay - bought the car about a year ago ('89 Camaro RS). A/C worked great - cooled the car down in a matter of minutes during 80-90 degree weather - better than my dad's 98 Cavalier! Anyway, Stopped using it for the winter considering I live in Ohio. When I went to use it back in May, it wasn't very cool, but I had a problem with the heater core which caused the car to overheat even after I changed the core. Anyway, I let it go for a while and eventually HAD to change the radiator. Now, with the new radiator my car does not overheat, but the A/C starts off cool and once the temp hits about 160 it just starts running around room temp so I dont even use it. Anyone have any ideas? Might it just need to be recharged? Thanks....

Hi, How did the heater core cause the car to overheat?
Anyway if the A/C gives you one good cool just after starting, then stops cooling, and asuuming the compressor clutch has not disengaged, it does sound like you are nearly out of refrigerant.
You can get the pressure checked easily enough, that would be the cheapest first step.
