Convertible Iroc Z 88 110000Miles 5000$ too good to be true?
Hey here is the story...
I was looking at my local kijiji adds, and I came across this nice 88
convertible Iroc Z for sale. It has 110 000K miles on it's 305 TBI engine. The
car has a new paint job and it is clean but not ''showroom'' perfect! The interior seems pretty clean too with it's cloth/leather grey seats and the car never been in an accident or reported stolen. It also has a new windshield, top and tires. It is a daily driver and there are no fluids leak...
The thing is that I find it cheap!?! Here in Montreal, Quebec, these camaros, specially convertibles normally sells for around 10 000$ or more, depending on condition and mileage. As I am not too familiar with TBI engine, could it be the reason why it's so cheap??? Am I really coming across a huge deal or what?
I am including 3 pics of the car for you to see the condition of this beauty.
Thanks
Patrick

From my perspective, seems like an average deal. I just picked up my '90 IROC convertible, 305 TPI, 83k miles for $5300 US. Runs great.
Did you buy it?

No not yet. I am hesitating because of the engine...If it was a tuned port then I
would buy it with no hesitation! I still have my 305tpi from my 91 camaro in my garage, it only has 38K miles on it but the intake setup is long gone. But 5300$ for your 90 iroc Z with less miles and the tpi engine!! I guess I will look for one in the US. I am always keeping an eye on Ebay, and I didn't find any really clean convertible in this price range?
So it is not a huge deal as I tought. Thanks for your comment

For a really nice clean vert, I would think it is a fair price. The L03 is the least desired V8 engine for the year. I personally pledged to myself that I would never ever purchase another L03 or LG4 for anything other than parts or to modify.
No offense to anyone, my opinion is just where it is...

Hi 91z28ss,
A couple things concerned me after I viewed the photos... is it a repaint?(if not, why no stripes and decal, was it a stripe delete?), is it a real IROC? (looks like it could be an rs IROC clone), why does an 88 have the 87 20th anniversary dash pocket?

Hi Mr. Iroc-Z,
yes the car was repainted as you can see they even painted the door handles red, wich I personnaly don't like. And it's true, why does it have the 20th anniversary pouch installed on the dash!?!? Thanks for the input! I would have to verify the VIN# at our local GM dealer to investigate on this one...
0kfoz:
I was thinking in modifying this car with a carburated stroker engine because the actual engine is so slow; when I tried it, it kinds of remind me my 88 camaro with a 2.8 mpfi. I don't know why GM put this particular tbi motor in a so called ''Iroc Z''!?! I mean, Mustang owner's should have laught a lot if they were to race this heavier convertible car with a low 170bhp back then...
just my personnal opinion

I also looked at the pictures and saw that the car had a grey interior with the headrest belt holder. That is NOT for convertibles. Also had BLACK carpet with the gray interior. No foglights. Just the Iroc Z grille. I think the car was a RS to start with. JUST my opinion.

Yeah I know about the carpet...the guy says he changed it because the grey one has stains in it. As for the seats, He probably changed them from a hard top donor car? God knows! Finally I also noticed the missing fog lights, but honestly I didn't paid too much attention because sometimes, when you have you car repainted, you remove them and after you wait to install new ones. But I have to verify on the fog lights control in the car! Thanks
