How do I remove this Piece so I can Repair/Replace it?

I am in the process of restoring the roof of my poor little 91 z28 vert'. Attached is two pictures of the piece I am trying to remove. Its the BROKEN piece that the back window guide/rubber attaches to, traditionally called a B pillar in a non vert. Anyone know the actual name of this piece?

LATCH YOUR ROOF BEFORE DRIVING AWAY! I had done stereo work the evening before and forgot to latch the roof... Next morning hop in the car to go to work... about 45 mph the roof folded back and that happened...

be careful trying to remove it because the shoulder bolt in the corner usually snaps. spray it down with pb blaster a few times before trying to break it loose. I may have that piece if you need it I will have to check for sure.

Re: How do I remove this Piece so I can Repair/Replace it?

Mitch, I work at a GM d-ship but we use a site that gives replacement info on several makes. Sometimes it works decent, sometimes not. I won't be at work long tomorrow but I'll see if I can sneak a peak in the am. If not, Monday I'll be sure and check then if you can't get any help if you want. 91 vert, guess there was only one design?

Re: How do I remove this Piece so I can Repair/Replace it?

looks like I do have it. The shoulder bolt needs drilled out but at least it isn't in two pieces should make it easier. It is the passenger side, correct? I have driver and passenger side the drivers side is fine I bought these a few years ago to replace the ones on mine and never got around to it. anyways here is pics. Let me know. Thanks also you will need to remove some of the roof fabric but not much.just over the piece. I can get it down to just the piece you need but I need to cut the bolt. unless I can get it loose.

No help from our GM site. Top is aftermarket, so to speak. There was a TSB on the latch.

Had mine doen a while ago . . .

Do TSB's ever expire? Just wondering for owners who haven't had it done and their cars are getting older. I guess at some point parts might be an issue.

Re: How do I remove this Piece so I can Repair/Replace it?

Not sure if and when they expire, as far as recalls. Believe I heard restraint system problems were for life of car, not sure how they determine that. I know they got out of those paint delamanation problems by cutting the life of the paint. Started at 10 years I think and went to 7 then 5 just in a couple of years.

TSB's are always good. Lots of times they are updates to factory manuals or one I remember is to enlarge hood hinge bolt hole due to fender supplier differences.
