convertible parts ?s

ok on my top there is this piece that goes down right behind the pass window. it is piece that the whole top pivots on when you put the top down. what is this piece made of and is it weldable? what is this piece called?

Take a look at the illustration in the "looking for convert parts" thread and let us know what thennumber is of the part you're looking for. If it is the passenger-side #9 I can't help.

yes it is the #9 does anyone have one? or is it weldable it is a very clean break all the way through

It's a cast part as I recall. Some proffesional welders are very talented and may be able to do it. My Grandfather was a welder for the railroad and could weld or braze materials that most would say were beyond repair. It won't be as strong as it was originally though. I'd ask if they could grind a channel and weld in a piece of steel to bridge the break.

Your best bet is to find a used one at a Pick-a-Part yard or eBay. In that case a 'vert had to die for yours to live.

Just to let you know, I got $225 plus S&H for the one I parted out.
