Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

Hello;

I'm looking for the supplement manual that came with the verts (in addition to the regular owners manual). It describes the vert top and how it works, etc.
I don't need it, but I want one for documentation restoration purposes. Hoping somebody might have one they're willing to part with or know where I might source one.
Hope this is the right forum to be posting. Thought it would get the best exposure here.

PS; does anybody still have theirs?
Thanks

Yes I still have mine. You can buy the Camaro manual new, which includes the convertible supplement at www.helmimc.com.

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

Thank's for the link, but it's a little vague. Do you have the direct link to where the owners manual is (which I do have) with the vert top supplement (which I don't have)?
Thanks.

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

The supplement is not sold separately. It is included with the owners manual, (at least is was when I last bought mine some 16 years ago shortly after buying the car). It also included the camaro cassette tape and spare credit card key. I was very dissapointed with the Firebird manual I bought a few years ago that no such extra stuff was included and the owners manual was very cheap (just a cardboard cover vs the simulated leather of the Camaro manual). Someone else may be able to provide more up to date info for you.

Thanks for the feedback. I would love to get a package like that. I'll do a little digging.
And if anyone has any other leads or maybe one they'd sell, let me know!

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

Helm inc is still selling it. So no, I won't violate GM's copyright by scanning it and distributing what you can legally buy.

For example I've included a link to the manual for a 1990 Camaro with cassette and without. The manual is $20, manual with cassette is $30.

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

Do you really think GM is worried about a manual that is 15 years old and a few pages? Plus I doubt they are in print anyway. There are links in the above section to schematics which GM sells as well...no problem posting them..just curious.

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

The '91 Camaro convertible I recently purchased didn't have the instructions for properly operating the top.

Would anyone have this information available in PDF, JPG or text format.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

It will be my pleasure to help you guys out with the supplement. As I recall it's printed on tan/light brown & textured card stock so it may not be real clear for an up-loadable file. For crisp images each file will be very large.

Regrettably, I'm at the office (while my wife is playing with high school friends in Destin) and the supplement is at home. It will be early next week before I can scan it.

Please bump this thread Monday as a reminder to me.

GOOD GRIEF, I JUST NOTICED HOW OLD THIS THREAD IS. I ASSUME YOU GUYS GOT WHAT YOU WANTED.

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

I bought the 88 version from Helm. Actually, I had gone to a local Chevy dealer parts dept., picked up an old spring for the console lid that Kendall in Oregon had searched out for me and referred me to. I asked about the old manuals, the parts mgr referred me to Helm. Owner's manual ok, convertible supplement not the greatest but had the info. Was looking for an assembly manual. I think they have a repair manual, but that was like $100+, didn't get that yet.

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

the vert supplement is pretty basic, black & white Xerox, basically with a Kinko's kind of glue on binding. But it's better than nothing. Owner's manual is nicer. Stapled/glossy cover with blue/gray/white colors, looks more like a real deal.

I'll scan the supplement and post it tomorrow. It is pretty basic but if you are new to a 3rd gen vert, it may be helpful.

CROUCHMAN Funny, I'm 55 also w/ an 88 vert. HOW 'BOUT POSTING SOME PICS!

You've got to be kidding me - NO WAY!!! It was my plan to clean the roc's engine bay but instead I spent the weekend at the office and doing yard work while she was playing at Blue Mountain Beach (said Destin because no one knows where BMB is; is it between Destin & Seaside? + what mountain?). Had it been Destin, they would have been ay the wine festival &/or shopping.

BTW - beautiful TA tavert91; original owner myself.

Hope so; I hope I hear about them in advance. I posted a thread in the SE Region asking for links of web pages that post info on gatherings/meets/shows. If you know of any in the area, please post them there.

Are you a member of any local groups?

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

Not a member but I usually go to the STARS (Southern Trans Am Regional Show) but it does not appear to be this year. Participation has been slowing and it kept changing locations. Last year it was at Destin Commons and before that in the lot at the Okaloosa Convention Center. There is also a Corvette gathering at Baytown Wharf in Sandestin that has a pretty good turnout.

Keep your top down!

I am truly sorry to say this but the only way I can scan the booklet is by damaging it. I've had it for 20 years and I'm just not prepared to do that. I took pictures if the booklet but they turned out unreadable. Again; sorry.

Don't know if this is what anyone is looking for, but I came across this on E-Bay today......

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/87-92...spagenameZWDVW

I'll have to see if I still have the one that came with my 92 Camaro when I had it. I don't believe the manuals went with the car when I sold it.

Hard to believe but I'm still looking for that supplement manual ('89 if possible) and the pic in the ebay link above is the first time I've ever even seen one.
Not sure if I'm going to bother with that particular one however.

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

Sorry for the late replay Duck. The booklet is seven sheets of cardstock folded and stapled. Regrettably the staples are not in the fold, so if opened fully to scan, the pages would tear at the staples. In addition the staples are heavy duty so removing them would be risky; any re-stapling I could do would be loose. If I wasn't concerned about damage, I truly would be pleased to help out.

Here's a link where I described the procedure fairly well. I would add to make sure the windows are also down when lowering and raising the roof.

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/conv...new-forum.html

PS; Another thought I just had . . . when actually raising and lowering the roof, be sure to support the roof with your hands as close to the middle between the roof latches as possible. The roof is very happy when all the way up or down, but when it's in the travelling between the two points, it can be susceptical to twisting, missalignment and possible breakage (if repeated over time) if held only at one corner. By supporting the roof evenly and moving it gently the roof frame should give you a lifetime of use.

At the beginning of every season, I also like to double check all the frame's links, hinges and fastners for anything missing (screws, nuts, etc). Please note that not all the fastners are supposed to be 100% tight in order to allow movement. I basically look for anything unsual from the previous inspection I made.

Sorry for getting off topic. An operational and procedure sticky or specific topic would be a better place for all the details.

Interestingly I have one of these for my 89 Firebird Vert... It sais Firebird Convertible Supplement and everything... Of course so many things about the car are atypical like the Title states "Convertible" but I never told them it was, and I do not remember it being on the NC title I had either.

That was very helpful, thank you!

I'd also like to add that since I work in the publishing business, I am able to convert hard-copy books and pamphlets into digital products without damaging the originals. They are not taken apart for scanning, just imaged from a distance, and the images consolidated separately from the book. So, if anyone has an old, ratty-condition convertible booklet I can borrow, I'll make a new one available via email, and return the original, guaranteed! Just PM me, someone...

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

I see most of these messages are a few years old. I have a 1992 RS Heritage Edition. I purchased the owners manual from Helm but it did not include the convertible supplement. I subsequently contacted them and was told they do not have it. Is there anywhere one can obtain one online? A lady in the town where I live spotted mine at Hardees one day and sat in the parking lot waiting for me to come out. Turned out we were friends but she did not know I had one as it is rarely driven. Anyway she told me she was selling hers after all these years because she hardly ever drove it. At the time I never thought of it but I ran into her several months later and she said yes the owners manual and convertible supplement were in the console, she would give it to me but unfortunately she had sold the car already. C'est la vie.

You'd think *someone* out there would take five minutes or so to scan this little manual, right? I'm still hoping to acquire a copy somehow...

I'll drink to that, well I would if I drank. I think the only way we're going to get the supplement is for somewhere to share a scanned copy.

Could we start with the pamphlets with "Convertible" on the cover? I'd suggest 200 dpi and I'll put them together into a PDF for everyone's use. If you need to email them to me (because of size limitations on the website) send me a PM and we'll work it out. If you'd like me to scan them for you, that's OK too. Your choice. Thanks for helping, it's appreciated.

I've got the 1988 Supplement (The one pictured in Response 31)

I've actually never used the scanner function of my printer, but I'm sure I can figure it out if folks want it.

Yep, we sure would appreciate it! Scan the pages full-size as JPG color. I'll PM my email address and if you send them to me I'll process and pack the pages into a PDF document replicating the booklet. Thanks!!

Just sent the pics to ya. Little blurry in some spots so if ya think I need to rescan any of them let me know. I think they will serve their purpose though.

Sorry on not getting back to you right away , Ruff week.

The 2 i have for 1992 are stapled and can be easily , put back together. one is 17 pages and has a noticible stain on all pages , but not the cover or back .
Not bad , Just thought i'd mention it. (purple one)

The other is 18 pages and looks great . (Blue and white)

My wife AKA V.P of opp. with a copy machine company will get the copys and PDF them this week , Should be perfect as they have a show room with BIG money copiers running in there .
Probally not till fri. ,Even i can't rush the boss . LOL

Re: Wanted: Camaro Vert Supplement Manual

I think the production date on mine is May of 1992, I'd have out in the garage to make sure but I do know the production number is 148806 The one I mentioned that the lady here had was not a Heritage Edition. Her husband was telling me it was a 350 and I didn't think it was as the VIN reflected a 305 and I was under the impression that chevrolet did not put the 350 in the convertible in the third gens. Later I discovered that when ASC did the conversion they actually did swap out the 305's for 350's in a few of them but of course the VIN didn't reflect the fact. Interesting cars, very interesting.

The BW pages would be fine if the originals don't have color. If you send those via email I can begin processing them.
