Damn, Dale should be banned from TGO for destroying those taillights. He took a usable set and made them trash, and is still demanding his money back.

News flash to Dale, if you want NOS, you're going to have to pay a hell of a lot more for it then you did. Throwing a childish tantrum, destroying the lights (without denying it mind you) is a sign of a first class *** and if you aren't banned right away, I hope you are blacklisted from anybody on here that would even think about selling anything.

Insurance is MANDATORY when I ship anything. The package WAS insured - both ways. Trying to file a postal claim on this would probably be mail fraud as they were obviously destroyed before they were wrapped in paper and boxed up. As I explained to someone else earlier about insurance,..... " Insurance was never an option for him - he just filed another insurance claim for the taillights that he sent to Hawks that were "busted upon arrival". No way the USPS is going to pay out for multiple claims to the same person for multiple sets of busted tail lights. Easier to claim I shipped defective parts then keep a good set of lenses + get a full refund. "

The funds were pulled from my account the second he filed with PayPal. as of this minute this dispute shows a status of "Being Reviewed By PayPal" (Last dated 07-08-14) and that they will respond by 07-21. I don't know if they have given him any $$ back.

Beth, I did forward pictures of the returned parts to PayPal with any luck a human will look them and read thru this thread. I don't think they will reverse their decision. Kinda' lost some of my faith in PayPal over all this. I saw the Train coming; and they still let it roll right over me.

John, I have two sets of identical tail lights I will gift to you if you cover the boxes/shipping. They're not perfect (corners chipped), but they will clean up fairly well. I wet-sanded them progressively and if you hit it with 2000 grit they will be ready for clearing/polishing.

The amount of dishonesty here is disgusting.

If the review fails, call them up and wait to speak to an actual person. A lot of times you can get things sorted out by talking to them on the phone. You should also pm one of the mods to see about getting the scammer banned from here. You won't be the last person on here he pulls this on.

Those pictures were definitely taken long before he ever received anything from you. Really, he even told you in his first message before the sale that he had a damaged one he tried to send out to Hawks get fixed. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if he had the form filled out with the mouse hovering over the submit button and clicked it before he even answered the door.

IF.. John did send the lights with the minor blemish, as buyer posted and IF.. the buyer sent the exact lights back that he received from John...then why would John completely destroy a set of lights he could STILL sell??

Really sucks to see this happen in the community. In the returned light pics I see posted, I see that the actual punctures look to be the same distance a part on both lenses. Maybe like the actual mounting studs hit the housings from improper packaging during return. When packages are picked up the drivers are always in a hurry to finish routes so the boxes get tossed, tumbled, torn, jolted, punctured, scratched, etc.etc.etc.

IMO - the package should be inspected by the shipping company upon delivery with the buyer present but thats never going to happen. Not for what it costs right now anyway. But what we can do is pick a better outside capsule to protect the goods and have it either advanced shipped by the buyer or reshipped to the seller after delivery. An extra $20.00 is not going to bother me vs dealing with issues like this.

Bottom line, I think the shipping company is to blame for some of it, and I think it could have been handled a lot more tastefully all around.
What I chalk this up to is more parts shortages for a car thats sold dirt cheap.... I may be rambling here a bit... but it doesn't make sense anymore. Those living in the 90's need to wake up. It's 2014.6 and we are having to resort to used parts for OE replacements that may be only marginally better than the crap on the car. I'm still looking for a beachwood leather drivers seat.

John, good luck with Paypal. Sadly I know what you are going through, I had a buyer do the same thing, and when they returned the items, one of them was damaged and couldn't be repaired. I won the case, but had to give a partial refund back to them, as it was the only way to win.

I hope this gets worked out.

What if, These lights arrived, I opened them and seen the crack. Having full faith that I was getting some pretty dang mint lights but instead seen the trash bags and garbage he packed it in, and seen that the driver side lens was cracked. No biggie right, simply return them right? So I send a PM. That's not answered. So I sent a dispute (not a claim) that these will not work, that they are cracked and I don't want them.

Then in return I get told through a paypal comment that Im a liar, trying to pass my lights (which I don't have any here, the ones I had sent to Hawks were damaged upon him receiving them, and I didn't question him as to maybe someone there dropped them, I just said okay I will buy another set and send to you Bruce) and that I was scamming him out of his good lights. Which were not good. They were cracked and dingy as f*ck. Now.... that really angered me. Then he started this mile long thread (most likely after I read the paypal comment and posted in his classified thread) totally bashing me and saying I am ripping him off. I don't know how things work up there where he is but down here a man isn't nothing labeled a liar or a thief. I may be a lot of things but neither of those am I. Now, this car means a lot to me. I lost my brother/best friend in a fiery crash right in front of me. I held what was left of him in my arms while he died. I started building this car in his memory. For the love of Christ I have been through enough. I fought in OIF (US ARMY INFANTRY, CIB) in 2003. By god Im no piece of sh*t liar or a scammer or a thief. He sent me that junk. I sent it back. This has got to the limit of my medication enough. Maybe the holes got there from return shipping. Its anyones guess exactly what happened. But the facts are:
1) John sent me lights in garbage bags that had hair and one cracked lens
2) He did not show signs of a genuinely honest seller because he used a 4 year old pic and not a recent one (had he used a recent one I would not have bought, since I couldn't see them in person) and it was doctored by armor all, and his comment that I was passing different lights off than what he sent me. John, I never took the paper off the back that said 1990, have them checked for my finger prints that's how damn sure I am those are still yours, as they were when you sent them.
3) He started this garbage thread defending his reputation. Whatever. Lots of people are good and every once in a while make mistakes. You made a mistake thinking you could get one over on me. I WILL NEVER GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT. It will most likely be the death of me.
4) I requested a refund. I was denied by him because of his claim I was passing off my lights (let me remind you I don't have a set, they are gone) as his.
5) HE esculated it to a claim. I did not. I started the dispute. He sent it to paypal to figure it out. They did, and refunded me.

I have said a few times I was done with this but keep coming back. I guess the thought of whats being said now has become to much of a temptation.

Some have said ban me. Well if you feel that by standing up and saying no that's not what I wanted Im sending them back is a bannable offense then by all means, I welcome it. I don't live my life around what a forum bard thinks f me. I don't live my life around what people I don't know thinks of me. I have contested through numerous posts that I sent back the exact same pair of junk lights I was sent. I plead my case. Innocent... thanks for the pleasant experience John. Your welcome.....

I say you deserve to be banned for jamming a screwdriver through those lenses. It was a petty, evil thing to do. Those lights had value as is, and you would have gotten your money back for the purchase, and he could have sold the lights to somebody else, even if they were slightly cracked

As is it now, he can't resell them so you deserve to pay for the damage. When I sell something, I put a clause that if you return the item, it must return in the same condition that it departed. You did not adhere to that simple rule, so you are the bad guy here, not John

Well according to him those lights were only worth 56.60 right? Shipping was 23.50 so... 56.60-23.50 = 23.10 Nah, John called me a liar and a scammer, and implied that I was being dishonest. Maybe he thought busting those lights up when he got them he would still keep my money... I say lock this one up its done. Admin, if you want deactivate my account so I cant post if you feel it warranted, at least let me go back to reading pertinent information like I was before I made this horrible decision to buy something off this forum...

I don't believe for a second that you didn't bust up those lights, because countless times in this thread you have insisted that you returned the same taillights he sent you, because you thought that was all that was required to get your money back. Same lights does not mean same condition.

Did you really expect to get a factory perfect set of lights for that money? These parts are 25 years old, give or take, and those that have NOS quality do not give them away for bargain prices. you got what you paid for, pure and simple

The price isn't the issue. They were pictured and described as very good tail lights. I mean look at his picture. I just sold a 1992 Z28 with only 17k miles. It was perfect. The tails on it were like glass. The were bright as f*ck. I wanted a set just as good. By looking at his picture and his description I assumed I had found a set. Considering I see them go for 50.00 or less around I figured at 115.00 I was paying for great lights. It could have been 400.00 for all I care, if they were what he had listed I would have been fine and dandy. But they weren't. And when I said I was no gonna settle for them this whole sh*t storm started. I mean look at this thread "Attack on my credibility"

Seriously? What about me?!?!? You are calling me a liar, accusing me of swaping out lights? For what? That's what angered me. I felt for sure he knew that crack was there when he boxed them up. Because he did have them double boxed, with someones old hair I will mention, and wrapped in 100 walmart bags. So I knew he knew that crack was there. His add said "no holes, no cracks, in great used condition" yet when they got here I opened up a box of lights I could buy for about 40-50 bucks here. This entire ordeal would have been avoided with a simple, no problem send them back and I will refund your money from him. But nope, accused e of swapping out parts for his. I mean really, why the f*ck would I do that? I was prompt with our messages, even paid more than we agreed (he said 113 but I paid 115 to help cover the fees, I know 2 bucks but da*n) and told him let me know when they ship. How on earth would that seem like I am the kind of person who would just swap them out.

It was about the principle of it. He said I was bitch*ng about a 28 dollar lens. BS!!! WHEN, and they are not available now, but when they were available they were 200-300 each side, for just the lens.

All John had to do was accept that I wasn't happy and wanted my money back. Because I promise you if I were standing there looking at them in person I WOULD NEVER have agreed to buy them. Like I said I can get those in that shape all over the place here for nothing basically.

Hate me, ban me, call me whatever. In the end I know I sent him back the same lights he sent me. I don't care how the extra holes got there but I can promise you he wont be selling lights with a doctored up picture anymore, especially that set. He wont be getting over on someone else like he tried to do me......

I have no problem with what I said being in the open. I deleted my previous comments that he quoted to back out in the open because I was just gonna let it go.

I have been shot at, cut, and stabbed. Had a cinder block smashed over my face and hit in the head with a Mag light. Moral is I have carried an as*whoopin a couple times. Interesting that you bring this up; I had never thought about that before. While it appears that you took some care with the drivers side before taking pictures for PayPal, you didn't seem to notice that when you placed the passenger side "90" tag on your lens,.... you put it on upside down. You also didn't install the big plastic tail light wing-nut. ( my lenses - as always - had a full set of wing nuts installed on each of them. )




Spoke with PayPal this morning & my dispute is still "under review". I just filed a Sellers Affidavit with them. Also - as suggested by Paypal - I'm considering filing an incident report with the local PD too.

Time to visit the confessional booth,..... Don't know how you can sleep at night dude.

Since the buyer has now resorted to physical threats after trashing the seller's merchandise , I DO believe that gives the site management EVERY right to ban him from this forum ! I'm SURE IB (Internet Brands) does not want the responsibility of taking no action when a threat of physical violence has been made . I will further state that it's buyers like this one that keep LOTS of us with stuff to sell from going to the bother of selling it , and possibly dealing with scammers such as this good seller encountered .

Long story - short,.....


A claim was filed against me over this transaction.

I escalated the claim to a dispute.

PayPal sided with the buyer and he was granted a full refund.

Items were returned - destroyed.

Appeal was filed with Paypal.

PayPal accepted the appeal and most of the funds were recovered.

Paypal dispute is now CLOSED.






Sure wish that things turned out different; NO ONE is happy with the way it worked out in the end.
