89fbirdformula disappointed me

I hate to throw stones, but I wanted everyone to be alerted to the experience that I have had with 89fbirdformula.

After reading some of his threads, and seeing positive feedback on him as a seller, I was comfortable sending him $700 for a T5 swap. I really only needed the transmission, but he did not want to part out the swap, and accepted my offer.

Two weeks went by, during which he kept explaining that he had not shipped the parts because he had to remove them from his car, and he was delayed for various reasons. Finally, he told me the parts would be shipped, and that I would get tracking info "shortly". During the next two weeks, I got a string of excuses, ranging from problems with FedEx to 'it's raining too hard', and he began ducking me. Eventually he told me the parts had shipped, and of course, they never arrived. Finally, after more than 5 weeks, I demanded a refund. The parts shipped that same day.

I received them today (4 days later), and no surprise, I did not get everything that was promised. I have filed a complaint with PayPal and am awaiting resolution. I also alerted JT, who suggested that I post here just as a caution to anyone else who might consider doing business with this guy.

I really hate to bad mouth a guy who may have had legitimate reasons for not following through, but IMHO there is no excuse for not being straightforward and not following up. Plus, when he sent the parts, he had to know that he was not delivering everything as promised.

I had the same issue, and got a string of excuses. I did get my refund today... after a month and a half of complaining and nagging him.

I knew about the paypal limits, but I wanted to give him a chance to deliver on his word.

I was expecting a T5, bellhousing, hydraulics, shifter, clutch, flywheel, and a trans mount and a torque arm mount, plus a supposedly mint condition T5 shifter plate with power mirror and window switch cutouts.

I only wanted the T5, and was willing to pay a reasonable price, but he insisted that I take the package if I wanted the transmission. He offered it all to me for $750, and I countered for $700, which he readily accepted.

I only really needed the T5, but my shifter plate is a little bit scuffed up, so I figured I'd take the whole mess and either sell the parts I didn't need or save them for another project. As it turns out, I got everything except the shifter plate and the hydraulics.

I am not complaining about the deal at all, but I do expect that when someone agrees to a deal, that he sticks to it. He got my money in less than a day, and I waited almost 6 weeks and did not get everything that he promised.

you could have EASILY called me, and it would have been taken care of right away.

if you notice how everything was packed, it had to be REPACKED because of fluid leakage in the trans, thats why i had to completely wrap everything VERY thouroughly

that said, i got in a hurry dealing with alot of stuff, and having to repack that box for you, and i left the 2 peices out on accident, if you notice, i had to cut a hole i nthe box because i forgot the TO bearing, and had it packed already, i completely forgot about the hydro/shift plate..

i will get them out to you either tomorrow, or thursday, and then id apreciate you settling things with paypal.

Re: 89fbirdformula disappointed me

You mean like I EASILY got you to send me the parts in the first place by calling? Please. Send me the parts. When I receive them, I will be happy to call off the dogs.

Remember, I was extremely patient with you until my time to initiate a dispute was nearly expired... and that was AFTER you lied to me about when the parts were shipped.

Re: 89fbirdformula disappointed me

I've read a number of posts regarding 89fbirdformula and his business dealings. My son, Bullydawg finally received a refund for his transaction yesterday. The sale took place in JUNE of this year. 89fbirdformula's replies offer MOUNDS of excuses but an excuse doesn't resolve anything. Just man up and say that you are kind of a flake and things might take longer than expected. You might get less money than you are asking for things because of the "Flake Factor" but at least people will know what they are getting into.

In all of your posts did you ever offer an apology? With my son you basically blamed him noting his "buyer's remorse" frame of mind, or his refusing your offer to mail a money order. Five months to conclude a transaction transcends even the Post Offices worst delivery attempt...additionally, you got your money DAY ONE. My son is the most fiscally responsible young man I know. Buyer's remorse or not he follows through. He is a man of his word. You might want to learn from that instead of rationalizing your lack of responsible behavior criticizing others.

Sorry if the truth hurts but you really ruin people's day with your actions. My son was extremely frustrated by your excuses and extreme tardiness in getting his money back.

89fbirdformula should learn that a man is judged by his word. Quit making excuses.

UPDATE

I have received tracking information for a package that is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Assuming that I am satisfied with the contents, my issue with him will have been resolved.

Re: 89fbirdformula disappointed me

My package arrived today. It contained the missing parts. While the shifter plate is not what I would call "mint", I am happy to have my parts.

Considering the total price paid, I can't complain about what I got. I wish the rest of you well in resolving your problems with the seller.

good that you got your stuff taking of, but im not sure why people dont leave accurate feedback about sellers! and if they do people should read it and take it to heart.

It is scuffed in a few places, there is a crack on one side, and there is a piece broken out in front of a switch that was added to it, right behind the mirror switch and in front of the console door.

It is possible that the crack and the chipped piece were incurred during shipping, because the shifter plate had to be placed diagonally inside the box in order to get it to fit, thus increasing the chances of damage during transit. Using a larger box might have prevented that, assuming that it was damaged in shipping.

It's not in terrible shape, but hardly what I would describe as "mint".

Re: 89fbirdformula disappointed me

Someone please ban this douchebag, 89fbirdformula. He is also here under IROC88LB9. AKA MarkB here, as well. He has stolen about $1,000 from me and 7plagues. It's Mark Barnes and he goes around different auto forums, creates multiple usernames, and steals money by selling parts that he never actaully ships. This was a fun one http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/showthread.php?t=163191

Re: 89fbirdformula disappointed me

this sounds just like alot of other guys who become known as scam artists, they make promises on parts they found in junkyards, get money for the parts then have to "remove them from my (car, truck, etc.)". they go back to the bone yard and the parts are gone/its muddy/somebody broke them. so now its excuse time. they are hoping they can push you past the paypal time limit so they wont have to worry about a refund.

if a claim is filed, they already spent your money and don't have anything to give back, so they try to find more parts to sell to other people on other forums, to build up enough money to issue a return to you

it would be simple to keep your nose clean in this situation, as i see nothing wrong with selling parts you pull from a junkyard

a. pull the parts before selling them
or
b. offer the parts but make it known it is on a car in a junkyard and a refund will be issued if the part is no longer available, or you can not make it back to the yard in a timely manner
