My E4ME- What did I screw up?
...should have left well enough alone. I was trying to adjust the choke by turning the choke adjustment screw. (with the engine cold and off, i had floored the throttle once so the choke plate would open a bit.)
Well I guess I turned the screw too tight, because there was a sudden "ping!" noise and the throttle plate slammed shut. I backed the screw out, which seems to move the leaf (circled in red in photo).
Now the choke plate is open some, whereas when the ping happened it was completely closed up like a clam.
Is the part circled in red supposed to "hook under" the blue circled part, which I believe is the fast idle cam? I would appreciate any help, thanks!

The part in red should just touch the green tab (blue circle), but only after you apply vacuum to the diaphragm attached. With the engine cold, close the choke valve by tapping the throttle, apply vacuum. As the diaphragm moves in the leaf (red) should contact the tab and just open the valve. You only need about 1/8 gap with the valve, so adjust accordingly. This will put you in the ball park.
Your leaf looks detached from the screw though. It also looks like its missing the little flat spring.

Thanks a lot! I actually have the book but did not see the illustration you posted until now. I would bet the bucking spring popped off, if there was one. Problem is, I don't see one laying around and given where it's located, I don't think it could have flown out somewhere.
