carb question

On a 1988 Camaro with the 305 its TBI was wondering if i should switch it to a carb and if im into a lot of issues
I am having issues starting it takes sometimes like 5-7 mins to get it started but then sometimes it starts fine no issues so i was wondering for drag racing if it would be better to go with a carb and is it going to be like a 3 day project switching it ?

Re: carb question

I would stay with the TBI - and fix the issues that you are experiencing, IMO.
Swapping TBI to carb is possible; but it is labor intensive and not cost effective. You would need a new intake manifold, the carb, and all the bits and pieces to make the conversion.
Whatever is wrong with the car now; and carb swap will only enhance the wrongness.

Re: carb question

A carb swap can be done for cheap with parts found on marketplace for $20 a pop, the only place I wouldn't cheap out on is a good return style regulator and the correct throttle bracket for your application, once you have your intake, distributor, carb and regulator figured out you're golden. You'll more than likely need to get small stuff like threaded plugs and gaskets.
