Newbie with LG4 automatic and SES light
Hi,
Just getting acquainted with my "brand new" 1986 Z28 with LG4 engine (all matching numbers the seller claims and my first Camaro after 25 years of Corvette). I'm not a mechanic, but I do want to learn how to do things myself and I'm starting to get the hang of it. Just replaced shocks and a leaky radiator on my '86 Corvette and starting to get excited about fixing stuff myself.
My Camaro is immaculate , but it does have a few items on the agenda concerning the engine: the Service Engine Soon light is on and I'm getting the feeling that it's running rich. When I suddenly step on the gas, the car hesitates, then follows. When I try WOT on the freeway, the hesitating takes longer and the engine seems to mumble a bit without actually accelerating.
I guess I can read the error code first by shorting out two points on the ODB port?

Putting a hairpin in pin 6 and 5 on the OBD port is not giving me any error codes, SES light is not flashing

Is your OBD connector look like this?
You need to jump terminals A&B.

Yes, my ODB connector looks the same, but I seem to have a different pin layout: mine has most pins on top and where M is on the picture, my connector doesn't seem to have a pin, just an empty hole.
But I did jump A & B on this picture, didn't work though.
