2.8 chevy camaro carb
so, a 82 Camaro was brought to me with issues. it will run great one time .and the next time you start it. it wont idle. turning the mixture screw does nothing. I can run it all the way in ,no change. I did a full tune up and all that .removed the carb (its a re-man)and it looks ok inside and out. still wont hold a idle. no vac leaks. what gives? thinking about milling a adaptor so I can mount another type of carb. but I really rather fix this one. help!!! by the way its a 2.8 v-6 with one of those 2se carbs. anyone have any adjustment advice?

Re: 2.8 chevy camaro carb
I played with one of those setups on a 1985 S10 with a 3.1 swapped into it long enough to discover it was a big POS and never was going to run right. The carb gasket was crumbling and it had a ceramic grid efe heater in it. $150.00 for a gasket...YEA RIGHT!!! Pulled the carb setup off the truck and tossed on a TBI setup from a 1987 2.8 S10 on it. It ran a little lean so I tossed in some 4.3 injectors and cheated on the base timing about 4*. Driveability was so much better, turn the key and it would start and idle on a 20*F morning. Instant throttle response even when it was cold. I swear the thing gained 30-40 ft/lbs of torque down low and through the midrange. The little 3.4 truck actually ran about as well as a stock 4.3 TBI. It ran so well it smoked the transmission and had to have a rebuild. We later converted that truck to a camaro 4L60E, a 93-95 4.3 TBI ecm, and used an electronic speedometer setup. Removed the distributor and used the 3.4 DIS coil pack in it as well.

Re: 2.8 chevy camaro carb
cant burn up a customers car!! but yeah it WAS hell.isnt it funny when you put things back the way the factory had them , it just works?? most of whats brought to me is "billy did this and that ,now it wont idle" sorta stuff. a puzzle for a old man. but the grins on their faces and the " dayum, howd you do that!!??" only brings me more of their friends with their own #$%$#&^ car wont run right!! can you fix it?? so its all good, it keeps me buisy, and I really don't like idle time, so . bring on the projects!!
