Edelbrock fuel strainer

I am rebuilding a 1406 and found the strainer for the needle/seat interfere with the strainer for the fuel inlet. Should I leave the strainer for the inlet out since I have a filter already?

Re: Edelbrock fuel strainer

The problem is that the strainer for the inlet wont fit because of the strainer from the needle/seat sticks up in the way.
