Re: what to do with vapor canister and cruise control on efi to carb
I left my canister hooked up and ran the vacuum lines like what was on my old 72 rs Camaro. I also hooked up my cruise control so it works. I took the stud off my Qudrajet and mounted it on my Holley carb. Holley has studs that match the factory style connections which is about 1" long. I had to mount the cruise control and TV cable almost an 1" back on the original factory cable bracket to get the proper adjustments for both cables. Don't forget the TV cable adapter bracket for the proper cable geometry.

Back at the tank disconnect the rubber line going to the vent line on the chassis. Install a fuel tank vent filter on the rubber hose.
Now you can either take the time to remove the steel line from the chassis or just leave it there and remove the loose rubber line from the engine bay.

I always hook everything up and make it work, no matter what I'm swapping to what. That way I devalue the car the least, by avoiding turning it into a typical hack-job mess like so often happens, where people destroy the "nice" features of the car and turn it into something of no interest or value to anyone else.

So a Charcoal Canister is a nice feature? Helps resale value?

A/C does; cruise does; passing inspection does; I'd say those features are "nice", in a general way.
Having made a job-related move from a non-inspection state to CA, and ACTUALLY BEING ABLE TO LICENSE AND DRIVE MY CAR WHEN I GOT THERE, I'd also add, being prepared for anything that life sends my way, qualifies as "nice", as well. Meaning, the canister is "nice" to have, even if you can weeeezel your way out of it somehow, wherever you live today.

Re: what to do with vapor canister and cruise control on efi to carb
I certianly see AC, cruise, and yes even passing emissions.
I also see where you are coming from rgarding hack jobs. Nothing turns me off more then seeing a carb under the hood of a former TPI carb, esp when its a crappy Edelbrock carb!
For me, emissions are not a concern, I have owned my Camaro for 10 years and haveno intentions of ever selling it.
Cleaning up the underhood was the main reason for removing the charcoal canister, and the lack of replacement parts for it. Being a carbon based filter, it has a very short useful life span, yet you can't really service it.
I yanked it years ago, and am about to replace my cars hardlines, so I figured if I could remove it and just at a vent, that would be good.
Now I am trying to find a suitable "vent filter"

Re: what to do with vapor canister and cruise control on efi to carb
I don't get where they are coming from, you are not plugging anything off and there is already a purge vent back there to allow some air in as you draw the fuel out to keep from forming too much vacuum. That line is a vent line to suck out vapors in the tank and burn them once the engine warms up to keep the gas fumes from escaping and adding to smog. The second vent will just keep you from over pressurizing the tank which the canister system was designed to do. What racers do is put a few loops into the vent line to keep fuel from leaking out encase the car flips over and they put a filter on the end of the line to keep dirt and debris from getting into the tank.
You just don't want to build too much pressure or too much vacuum in the tank.

I removed the cruise completely, I don't ever use it and don't plan on selling the car ever. For the charcoal canister, I replaced it with one from an older Chevy truck that had a factory carb.
