Well i have a secondary clear plastic fuel filter bout 2 foot from my carb, mechanical fuel pump, well after driving today i heard a bubbling noise popped hood and fuel was bubbling in the plastic filter, as it bubbled (rapidly) fuel level in the filter slowly went down, start engine it stops bubbling. Will this mess with the carb while driving? Edelbrock 1411 carb.

First of all, I would get rid of that clear filter with the plastic element. Those are complete garbage. If it's anywhere near heat as in if it's in the engine bay, that cheap white plastic melts and clogs it. Dumbest design I've ever seen in my life. Just use a canister type fuel filter that you can get at most autoparts stores. It has a nice chrome finish on it too. Edelbrock makes a nice one with AN fittings if that's what you need, or you can get one with hose barbs for fuel hose and clamps.

Not to mention a complete fire hazard. If it gets knocked around while driving and the glass breaks you'll have fuel pouring all over the hot engine/manifolds.

A member posted pics of his burned-down 3rd gen after one of those filters mounted to the firewall sprayed fuel everywhere.

Agreed, get rid of it. It has no useful function. Put a steel case in-line filter in its place.

If you want to eliminate the possibility of the bubbling being a problem, get the original in-tank electric pump functioning (an upgraded pump is a good idea), put a return-type fuel pressure regulator before the carb, and get a block-off plate for the mechanical fuel pump.

I've gone through this exact same issue years ago. It started after i installed a Holley performance fuel pump with no vapor return. Once i installed a fuel pump with a vapor return, problem solved. Am using one of these...
