Carb spacer for more top end? help me out
hey guys im running a holley 600 cfm 4 barrell with vac advance sitting on a weiand stealth dual plane intake. (divided in the middle)
Im looking to increase mpg and top end. My car tends to fall on its face, but its got decent low end tq.
The engine is a early 90's 350 with just bolt ons.
What kind of spacer/ and size would u use and why?
I cant decide between a divided spacer, 4 bore spacer or open spacer.
Any help/ suggestion appreciated
Thanks

Well typically a spacer will add more air volume in-between the valve and the throttle blade moving the power band up a little bit however it doesn't really do anything for performance because the same amount of air is getting in your just making power at a different time

hmm i see makes sense. Well i would definetly like to move the power band up, with my current set up what spacer would u use?
Im also looking to keep the carb cooler so the fuel wont get as hot. Ive heard that just that would give some gains.

Well if you got one I would get the one that has the smoothest connection to what you have so no lips will be obstructing flow and don't worry about the spiral flow ones and their shenanigans. As for the carb cooler, is it just a cool can for the fuel line or what do you have? The cryo bars look pretty cool but iv'e never had one

i dont have anything right now specifically for keeping the carb cool.
I figured the spacer might act as a cooler of sorts by seperating the carb from the intake and freeing up some hp.

Well if its aluminum it will sink just the same heat into it maybe a plastic or some other composite one would help cool it but in reality its right ontop of the motor so its gonna get hot eventually.

i would get a phenolic spacer. you can get the 4 hole one as its better for torque.
but the divided one would work as well.
