`83 Camaro z28 Problems

Finally got my dads 83 and he is the second owning. he bought it in 91 with 67k miles and he finally gave it to me. It sits with 146k miles on it. He took it to a professional in 98 and he told him that there was a crack in the carburetor. So in 2004 he parked it and it hasn't ran since. So last month i fired it up and moved it to my house. I got another qjet carb and put that on. It had a different choke hook up but everything else works. The choke works fine but there was a hose that broke off and i couldn't find out where it went. It's to the left of the ISC solenoid and under to the left of another electric hook up. Now the car idles ruff. So i do believe i have a vacuum leak and i was hoping that could be a problem. But the big problem is when the choke light clicks on. It doesn't stop clicking on in the instrument panel. The choke works perfectly but that darn clicking is annoying.

Re: `83 Camaro z28 Problems

Alright i am a retard and didn't check out the wiring diagram. Now i have everything hooked up but i don't have the egr valve. My paps was telling me that it was doing something and he was out of town and no way on getting a new one so he filled the hole with a old red and blue pepsi can. But that damn clicking from the choke light is still going on.. I bought a haynes and the wiring diagram for the instrument panel shows no choke light but the first page of the electric diagrams shows a Choke/Heater relay. Can that be the clicking or am i still looking at the wrong things

You are hearing the choke relay. It's in the convience center with the horn relay and turn signal flasher.Take the driver's side hush panel down and look between the steering column and ALDL connector. It swings down like the fuse panel but no access other than take the whole hush panel down.

Re: `83 Camaro z28 Problems

Found the relay, now i start the car and it goes good. I give it gas for a bit and it still goes good. but when i get it up to speed and it just starts clicking. it clicks to the sound of the motor. i don't know what makes it click. is it the ecm or what. i don't want to take it out and just leave it off if i could fix it. but i do believe the relay is good but what makes it turn on or off.
