Do I need to tune the carb out of the box?

I bought an edelbrock 1406, I'm going to be starting the motor this sunday for first time (i've said this about 6 times in the past 5 months now), is there anythjing I need to do to adjust the carb? I'm about 500' above sea level. There are two screws in the front that looks like I can adjust with a philips screw driver. which is which?

The carb will be close usually right out of the box to get the car running and break the cam in ,but you will need to fine tune the idle mixture screws, also i found the carb to be a little lean on my engine and need a rod and a spring change .the pump shot was also too short. Read your manual, everything you need to know is in there. they sell tunning kits get one.

lol, I read the carb manual, I understood exactly 1% of it. Most of it was charts on which rods I need for this and that, but I couldnt under stand it. I need a "For Dummies" book I guess.
