fast idle on rebuilt carb
rebuilt my carb last night,cc Q-jet4bbl, very dirty, i did replace the float and fixed the choke that some one messed up. (green tab bent inward and no adjust screw on bottom. ) only thing now is that my idle is about 1400rpm, i will buy a adjusting tool today for the rich adjustment. but when i replace the float i just backed it out 4 turns, is it maybe too rich? i did drill the hole already, i tried backing out the idle screw and the fast idle screw, little change.

Check for vacuum leaks.
Also, the little "kicker" solenoid on the linkage will hold the idle up until the engine RPMs come down to about 1400 or so; if it's set incorrectly, the ECM will never let it idle down. Disconnect it before trying to set the idle.

think i screwed up the carb, now either i will go non cc or just find another to rebuild. this was my first cc carb. next time i will just pull the air horn and spray the crap out of it and replace gaskets and accel pump, but if i go non cc what do i need to complete it? will probably go with mech advance distrib. but what about the TCC lock up?

Lock-up is by road speed and engine temperature. I wonder if lock-up would still work if you changed the distributor and carburator, but left the computer and sensors alone. Would be best from an economical aspect. The computer uses very little current, and takes up very little space. What do others think?
