Edelbrock 1407 accelerator pump bore wear

I have a 1407 carburetor which has a series of somewhat deep scratches or gouges inside the right side of the accelerator pump bore. I'm not sure what caused them since the only thing that should be touching the bore at this point is the pump cup, and these scratches are perpendicular to the travel of the cup, in line with the circumference of the bore. I'm worried that these marks are keeping the cup from sealing, and also about them causing accelerated wear on the cup. Is there a way to deal with this? Can the bore be honed and an oversized pump be used?
