Car: 1991 Camaro RS

Transmission: They always break!
I would stick with a vacuum secondary carb if you have an auto. They dont like autos unless you have really steep gears. I have ownded carters edelbrocks (same), holleys, ive used a demon (not mine). I even used a predator carb, great carb by the way, weird looking thing.

My friend has a mechanical double pumper and we finally got it to perform as it should on an auto. he still doesnt like it.
He just sent out for a vacuum one yesterday.

My favorite is the holley carb. They look mean as hell, and the performance to dollar ratio cannot be beat. Very tunnable, and billy and his mother have a couple of jets laying around that you can use. The edelbrocks/carters also perform great. Their idle is rock steady, and performance is good. Not best for radical engines. If you are planning on tight turns and twisty roads out of the box i would go with the edelbrock/carter.

The demon is close to a holley carb, they perform just as good as a holley looks the best out of both but cost an arm an a leg. Not worth it in my opinion unless you like its 10 corner idle adjustments.

The predator is something weird i would recomend it if you want to open your hood and have people ask you what the hell is that!!! Their tunning is basically zero, great for blown situations. Im planning on getting a new one again just because they are different.

I would go with a vacuum secondary holley. With a secondary metering BLOCK. Not the cheap bastaterdized PLATE one that i have.

Anyways take care and good luck on your carb hunting.

Car: No more birdy
If you just want to pop & roll either a vac secondary holley or an edelcrap will do. I doubt your gonna need anything bigger then a 600cfm carb although a few people will disagree. I was running 12.1's with a 600cfm carb on my truck.

Car: 1988 Pontiac Firebird, flat black
Engine: Stock 305 LO3
Transmission: Five speed
Lean is fast. DO you plan on running nos?? A 600 or 650 would work just fine. The 750 would be to big for you. Unless you go with something sick. Elderbrock makes an intake that will work with your heads from what I understand. I would go with a dual plane. I have found that holleys are very nice. But believe it or not a rodchester isn't a bad carb, just not easy to do a full tune and rebuild. Most people here will probably not like them though. I had the factore one on my car and didn't have any problems with it. I just wanted soemthing more. And no, the car in question wasn't my bird. 1974 Nova 350.
