Hey all I have been looking for one of the old Kicker CTF full range boxes for a long time. Does anybody know where I may find a used one since they don't make them anymore.....

Yeah I did try the E-bay but had no luck......As to the reasion I would like to have one is......they are a great way to have a one amp full range system and they also provided great sound. Granted they will not compete with what most have here ( I do envy the talent you guys have) but I just liked them

I hate to break it to you but your car will end up sounding like a loud 6 x 9 at the most.

Having all that sound coming from the back is like listening to a concert from the lobby. Sure the sound gets to you, but it bounces off stuff.

Plus, the fact the ones you'll find will be so old and be heavy, after shipping you might not have found that good of a deal for somewhat small return.

actually loner. Introduced as a CTF, then moved to an SSCTF 2 years later.

I used to have an SSCTF and I LOVED the sound that came from it. I replaced my 12" subs in a flat board with the box and it sounded better and louder with the 10" beacuse of the design. The box was angled so the sound would bounce off the back window an come directly at you and it worked!!! I hope the nay-saying comments were coming from expericence and not just theory.
My box actulally broke so I had a custom lighter one made just like the old one. Sadly the car I was restoring and the box built for had a bad frame. If you would like the box I have I will sell it to you cheep. All I have is the box and the hardware no speakers. David.Petersen@IGT.com

Theory? Sure. But I know what having lots of sound coming from the back of the car, and even if you like it, doesn't mean its realistic. People are going for the bass up front, not the highs and bass from the rear effect lately. I do think it could sound good, but sound in front is better and more realistic (the stereo image is more realistic, with all those drivers so close in the rear and you so far away, it sounds like sound is coming from the rear, not from the rear right and rear left).

I do remember that Kicker had a subbass box that went back there that probably sounds as good and you can find some speakers that go up front.

Dave Peterson is right on the money.

I also had a kicker CTF box in my 83 Z28 and it sounded AWESOME. The people posting the negative comments are not up to speed with these full range boxes. The imaging is excellent.

I powered the stock speakers in the dash and rear pillars with a Sony high power head unit putting out 50 watts x 4 channels. For signal to the CTF, I tapped off the rear speaker inputs, ran them into a high to low level converter (to avoid burning up the amp) then into a a small Alpine 3522 bridgeable amp. I was able to balance the sound perfectly by adjusting the gain on the signal converter.

There were no holes in the imaging whatsoever. This system was exception for rock music as it generated extremely high sound pressure levels, exceptionally low tight base with zero speaker clipping.

I never had to turn the volume up beyond 50% because the speakers were properly amplified. The best characteristic of these boxes was the mid bass they provided.

I have owned a lot of audiophile level car equipment since the early 80's and this system stands out as one of the best. The CTF box is perfect for the third generation Camaros. Take my word for it, you will not be disappointed. An awesome sounding old school system which kicks *** even by todays standards.

A work acquaintance with an 85 IROC mentioned he opted not to search for a CTF box based on this post. I just wanted to set the record straight and help the next person who might be in the same situation.

Ha, I just found this thread. I've had one of these boxes since HS. We mostly used it as a PA system for parties at the lake. I later set it up in a pinch with a 6 ohm vintage receiver and it held up for 20 yrs. Just recently a tweeter gave out. I'm replacing the tweeters and looking to use it in the back of my truck just for tailgating. Any suggestions on amp specs for this?
