Has anyone put a JBL (or variant) spare tire sub in thier thirdgen??
I am a huge audiophile. I spent way too much money on speakers but for this next build I really want something small, lightweight, efficient and dammit, I dont want to do a bunch of custom mounting and constant eq-ing etc. So I am looking into removing the spare tire, and either putting a sub there or one of these in there. You can go 2 ways, passive with your own amp or active with a built in amp. I hear passive is the way to go but active is still impressive for what it is. Thoughts?
I just think that if this is suspended totally off that one nut and all thread it might not be a good idea. These are made to sit on the bottom, sandwiched in between the spare tire and the nut. This would however be mounted to the side in this application and I would probably even make a quick bracket to help hold it.
So as the question goes... Anyone tried this?
