My car currently has a garbage Sony Xplode Cd player from 2000-2001 in it. I'd like to replace it with something new, that has Bluetooth capabilities. I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to wiring things like this. Is there anything I can buy that would just be a direct plug and play to replace this unit? Thanks!
I doubt you'll find a plug in replacement unless your factory wiring is still intact with the original plug in sockets. If the OE stuff is still there you can usually buy the adapters to fit in a new good brand unit. Otherwise I'd suggest asking around for a good local stereo shop and deal with them.
that is actually the industry standard is to buy an adapter harness that fits your car along with your new radio. the adapter harness plugs into the factory dash harness, and the other end attaches to the harness that comes with the new radio. its pretty much all color coordinated at that point. red goes to red, green goes to green, black to black, etc etc etc.
Since you had a single DIN, I'm guessing you're not concerned about stock radios, so you're probably looking for a new aftermarket product? If so, then the options are endless. Search the web and youtube until your head Xplodes. And don't rush into anything yet because you're likely to change your mind several times before you decide on something. It'll be fun!
Does "plug and play" mean another single DIN radio that will slide into your current mounting configuration? Or do you simply mean using the proper wiring harness adapters (if your car's harness is still intact)?
Bluetooth is likely to be a standard feature on most anything new you buy. Touchscreen? Do you want to stream all of your audio and video content, or do you still want a CD/DVD player? Most CD touchscreen radios/multimedia players play DVDs too.
Are you considering double DIN? There are nice factory-like double DIN bezels available for 3rdgen Camaros, and stock-fitting mounting brackets for double DIN radios, too, making them, virtually, plug and play, and look excellent inside the car.
With a double DIN, touchscreen, CD/DVD, Bluetooth, navigational multimedia player, you'll start spending more time in your car than you have in years! That beautiful car, with those new brakes, wheels and tires, and a new radio like that, you'll jump in and head toward the second star to the left, then on 'til morning, or, at least, to the sands of Daytona Beach!

Yea I was thinking about going the lazy route lol. Assuming the car has an adapter already to the stock wiring harness. I was wondering if I could just unplug the old CD player and plug it into the new one. I probably should have a professional do it. But a touch screen sounds really cool.
