New old JVC deck

New old JVC deck
JVC KS-RX710J
I believe these were meant as factory deck replacement units.
CD / audio jack input
rear out rca
5 band eq
It sounds fantastic compared to the factory deck on stock speakers, better than the early 2000s alpine CD player I had in prior.
Not much for a wiring diagram on the internet, but I’m certain of all but one front speaker “polarity”. It’s nearly match for match on gm wire colour, I put in a patch harness and haven’t cut the oem.

Re: New old JVC deck
Unable to leave good enough alone I foolishly pulled out the stock front speakers and swapped in some middle of the road clarion 4” plates… I’ll be re-installing the factory speakers tomorrow. Any thoughts on putting speaker baffles in, I’d like to add a bit of “richness” to the sound and leave it on deck power.

Re: New old JVC deck
Would be tough to have enough space for baffles in the front, I'd think. Unless the plan is to just shove some loose cotton batting in the area. I just had my whole dash out and installed yesterday. With all the venting that runs in that area, it is pretty tight. I have battles (factory installed?) in the rear sail panels and happy with the sound from there.
I also have the factory fronts installed. Sorry to hear the Clarion did not work for you. I considered updating the front speakers while the dash was out and They were so accessible, but decided to just leave them in for current.

I went down to the local wrecking yard and found this coax set in a ‘01 Cavalier more door. Has an independent tweeter and seems like a bunch more cone stroke (xmax).
I swapped the gaskets off the off the originals, lined the cavities with sound deadener (salvaged from the same cavalier).
With my untuned ear I think they’re a nice upgrade over the stockers.
