Factory UU7 radio and UQ7 subwoofer questions

The 1984 Trans Am I'm restoring has the UU7 and UQ7 options. The car had an aftermarket radio when I bought it and I'm trying to put everything back to original condition. I had the radio in the picture below laying around that was removed from another 1984 TA parts car. Anyone know if this is a UU7 radio? I tried hooking it up and the clock displays for a few seconds, goes off and then does nothing. No sound. Fuse is good and dash speakers work (I removed and tested with a receiver to make sure). Guess I'll have to send out for repair. I've seen M&R Auto Electronics in MI recommended in some threads on here. Anyone have any other recommendations?

Next question is what is the gray wire connector on the left side of the radio for? I'm not seeing anything under the dash for this connector. Was it maybe for a power antenna option?

It seems all of the components for the UQ7 option are present, but I'm not sure if they work. I did remove and test all the speakers. They all work fine, but the subs need new foam.
I'm planning to use DynoDave43's thread HERE to try and restore these.

Found some good UQ7 information in this thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...ml#post4818529
This thread has some information on testing the factory amp. It appears this information is for a 1986 system. My setup doesn't have a gain switch. It's just an on / off switch from what I can tell. Would this information still apply to the 1984 setup?

that is not an '84 radio-it is a mid-'80s radio from a Celebrity or the like.

Re: Factory UU7 radio and UQ7 subwoofer questions

The 1984 set up used different rear subs than the 1985, and newer versions. I used to restore these systems. Not much interest in them anymore. If you want to Pm me your phone number I can call you, and tell you everything I know about them. Honestly way too much to type.
