Steering wheel controls
What radio can I use with the 88 GTA steering wheel controls.....??
Factory GM or aftermarket...?
My current radio is a stock one in my 91 trans am vert ......
Plan on swapping out the column for the GTA one with the steering wheel controls.......
Would like to upgrade the radio....refurbished stock radio or nice aftermarket as long as it will work with the steering wheel controls....
Thank you

Re: Steering wheel controls
I have not found any other radio with a plug that will connect to the GTA SWC radio data plug.
Here's what the back of a GTA radio should look like:
Pontiac radios that look similar to the GTA SWC radio ( AKA: Bonneville or 6000 ) also require the MUTE button to be pressed when battery or radio is removed in order to get it working again, but they do not have the same connection/plug port, so they will remain in 'LOC' mode & will not work in a GTA.
4th gen Firebird SWC radios do not have the GTA type plug port either,.... so they too are not directly compatible.

Re: Steering wheel controls
I don't have all the parts needed to set-up and figure out how the SW pad interacts with the Radio and can;'t really help with this. I'd recommend following the information that is posted in the other 'Audio' forum thread that you posted into recently...... there's some good info and wiring schematics posted in that thread.

Good luck !
