Re: Double Din Radio Bezel
With everything going on in the world, I don't know exactly when they will be available. But i can tell you where the project stands.
-The molding equipment I'm building is being assembled and wired. Soon after a few small test parts will be done to check texture patterns.
-The mold blanks will be heading to the cnc department end of week early next. After that they will need to go be polished and brought to the texture guy.

Its going to start off as a small batch run for the forum and see where it goes. With the way its set up i could run off one or do a run of 20 or so. I also have the option of creating other molds to make different parts. it would basically come down to demand.

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel
I decided to get one of these 3d printed so I can do some measurements, I have a feeling the print I'm going to get will look terrible because it was only $47 and I used the cheapest material, ABS was over $120.
I would be interested in a higher quality faceplate, do you know prices @7thdarkangel?
I would like a camaro version on with the radio on the bottom

All,
There are major delays in the cnc shop working on the mold. I'm currently looking into lower volume molds. They would be quicker to produce but will have a limited life span. But if the process works the way I'm expecting it to, other variations of the bezel could be made with ease as well as other parts that may be wanted.

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel
I had one 3d printed just for fitment, for about $40 its a good deal. The surface is textured, but seems to hold up. I used app.craftcloud3d.com with a PLA material, 20% fill. I got this to do some fitment, but honestly its strong enough to use normally. I'm not sure if a higher infill % would make it more smooth, but I kind of like the texture, I look forward to test fitting a radio once I get the car back from the shop

My files have been removed from thingiverse. Getting tired of people taking the work done and writing it off as their own to sell it.
Sorry to those that have used them as intended.

They are still in the works. The machine is almost complete. Had to re-make a section of the machine and order new electronics/pneumatics.
Also working on a reliable low volume molding solution as i have not heard back from the cnc division yet.

Hey man, I used your things to have them printed somewhere else, I'm not reselling them, but wanted something to test fit radios. I still will want something that is "production quality" once I can figure out which option works best using the "rough prints" I ordered. Hope you aren't angry we used your files with other printers, I just wanted to test while waiting.
Look forward to your final product, keep us updated

Count me in for a reverse double din, waiting on a Pioneer double din car play unit. Thank you for creating this, amazing work!

I'd rather wait and give the money to the original creator, its a ****ing shame people have to be scumbags and steal other peoples work! That guy on Etsy is selling them for $77, when it costs $20 to print it, if he was giving 7thDarkAngel a cut of that then it wouldn't be bad!

Quick update.
The injection machine is running good now. First trial for the low volume mold will be happening this week. Trial part will be a plate that takes place of the ash tray so you can mount switches. (Smaller part = smaller mold set = less loss if thing don't go accordingly).

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel
So I did test fitting this weekend. My Pioneer is too tall for the opening it seems. What radio was this file created with? I'm going to attempt to make it work, but the radio is going to have to sit pretty far back to allow me to get the new trim peice to go up enough to align the 4 mounting holes.
Or perhaps I made my mounting tabs somehow wrong, I'd be interested to know how others are mounting their stereos.

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel
Well, its In. The smallest part of the radio will fit in the opening, but not the slightly larger body. This means the radio needs to sit a little further back than it should, and.... I can't open the faceplate. I don't really need to put a CD in there, but it would be nice. I do hope the final part has a larger opening option that fits a typical Double Din Pionner that needs to swing open. If I can provide measurements of any kind, I would be more than happy to help. Again, thanks for all your hard work!

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel
No good news to report. The trials for the low volume molds did not go well for the ashtray plate. Very inconsistent and the mold deteriorated way to quick (3-4 parts).
So on that note, I just pulled the trigger on a cnc routing setup to make some nice aluminum molds (my own cnc division can't seem the push this through for me).
Once this comes in ill again start with the ashtray plate as a starting point and move into the radio bezel.

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel
Aha, that explains it. Too bad. I would love to have them for my own personal use. Parts for the Camaro are hard to find overhere (Holland) anyway. Shipping is always the $$ issue. But I do have the 'standard' single and double din files, so I have something to print. I you change your mind on sharing.... For now, following and good luck!

Quick update.
The CNC is complete. Will be ordering up some aluminum tomorrow to start working on the ashtray plate. Once i get good results from that, I will order the material for radio molds.
Thanks again for all of your continued support and patients.

Re: Double Din Radio Bezel
My Double Din Install with a 3D printed trim plate. I also designed and 3D printed the mounting brackets. If anybody want the files I can send them. This was for a Kenwood 2020 model, but I'm sure the brackets will fit other units. I had to move the heater controls up about 2 mm to get the Kenwood supplied trim plate to fit. I will probably reprint the trim plate as I'm not happy the way it turned out on the right hand side.
