I'm hoping someone here is familiar with the UQ7 wiring, or can confirm what I "think" I'm seeing/understanding from the factory service manual schematics.
Without getting into too much other detail, as some of you may have guessed based on my other recent posts in this forum, I'm working on adding a small amp to my factory stereo. It accepts speaker-level inputs from the factory head unit, and I thought I had most of the issues figured out. Then I thought about the UQ7 system.
From what I'm seeing, the UQ7 amp is fed a signal from each of the four channels...has all 8 wires running to it as inputs.
You'll notice ALL channels are shown as passing through C212. And this is C212.
This appears to be the connector right at the radio.
So, knowing C212 can't be at all four corners of the car as drawn, then this is simply a mechanism to simplify the drawing of the schematic. The actual splitting of those 4 channels into two signals (one per channel heading out to each of the 4 speakers, one per channel heading to the UQ7 amp) must be happening right at C212...right behind the radio. (I'd verify this myself, but won't have access to the car until tomorrow).
Sound reasonable?

The outputs are speaker level output so you would need a speaker to line converter if you wanted to use a line level input amp. Actually 2 since most converters are for stereo, and a 4 input amp. Although you could just use the front speaker outputs. You can build your own with a couple of resistors, just Google "Speaker output to line input".

Excellent. Thank you. I could not find it in the component locator views. That's very helpful then. I was thinking that was the connector that plugged directly into the back of the radio. But you are saying it is in-line.

The reason I'm asking all this is...and this didn't occur to me until I was close to start wiring things in...if I add the amp upstream of the splices at C212, I will be sending a boosted 300 watt signal not just to the four 4x6s, but also to the UQ7 amp...I would guess that's a no-no! So I think I'm going to have to find those splices, cut them, and extend those wires back toward the head unit to at a point in the harness BEFORE I tap in the new 300w amp. Correct?

No problem. It's on page 8A-150-8 of the manual. The info in the manual is truly amazing, but the index system sucks. Or maybe it's just me, I can't figure it out.
