Rear Speaker Placement
It is pretty obvious that the rear speakers being in the sail panels is a bad spot for them. Would putting the speakers in the hatch well (similar to the BOSE speaker placement) have any advantages?

Re: Rear Speaker Placement
I'm running 6x9 pioneers in the rear hatch along w/Infinity s 6x9 in sail panels. Car is soundproofed & sounds great despite weak dash speakers. Working on kick panels now. Live the rear hatch set up I scraped plans for subs. Good luck

Re: Rear Speaker Placement
i havent heard that exact setup but i would think anything that is behind you is not going to be good for the detail. if you want ideal, you want some 6.5 separates in the door or kick and tweeters on the dash.

Re: Rear Speaker Placement
Even though though I think it sounds great, you're right, it's not ideal for the audiophile, that's why I'm adding speakers to the kickers to supplement the dash & even out the sound. The rear hatch area does seem to send/bounce the sound well, though. I think the soundproofing helps a big deal too.I'm still very impressed & happy w/where the sound systems is at, Thanks

Re: Rear Speaker Placement
To illustrate what I'm trying to say, I've drawn it out. The way the base system is setup, the rear speakers are firing directly at each other, and one is less then a foot from your ear. This makes for a terrible sound stage. I have to imagine this setup would make for much better imaging.

Re: Rear Speaker Placement
I would eliminate the 6x9's all together, and put some subs in the well. The focus on your front stage by building some kickpods.
Anything that plays the upper range of sound behind you, is going to make it sound like the music is behind you.

Re: Rear Speaker Placement
Short answer is yes.....but.....put subs in the rear with 6.5" comps up front.
