retro head units?
anyone else done this because i want to, get a good looking older 80s alpine or kenwood and fit it to the stock location, doesnt matter to me if it works or not aslong as it lights up right, i could easily have my almost new 300 dollar pioneer hidden in the console or under the seat or something like that, i just love the look of some of these old head units and think they would look period perfect in my camaro

only downside is the insane price for one

LOL, I took one of these out and put the stock radio back in. Maybe check the dump near Georgetown Ohio.
Of course I am going for the stock look so an aftermarket radio is not an option.

Re: retro head units?
I have seen this several times on this forum. Luckily for all of us the Moderators or someone else in power has been banning them rather quickly. Can we give a BIG hand to the Moderators. GOOD JOB.
The Clarion pic you posted is very similar to several other models. All the models that I am familiar with from back then started with the ARX prefix and had a very similar look. I have seen them for sale rather cheap on Ebay many times. I had one back in the mid 90's.

i've seen cheap ones on ebay too, always the same thing though "not working sold for parts as is" but honestly if i just want it for the looks i dont suppose that'd matter much

Re: retro head units?
That is a possibility as I haven't looked for one of them for 5-10 yrs now. I am real happy with my 8-10 yr old Alpine.
