want a MP3 delco? READ THIS!

I sent a delco radio to *84TA to have a MP3 input installed. I had one before, but the radio died, and on top of that the input was on the front face, which I really didn't like.

*84TA rigged a rear exit cable (nice and LONG) and also fixed the back lights for me for a very reasonable price. it looks like he also gave it a good cleaning, the thing came back looking show car worthy.

I'm using my car as a daily driver now, so having a modern convenience like a MP3 input is freaking SWEET

I would recommend this service to anyone who likes the factory look of their radio, but wants it to feel more modern

DO NOT sent anything to *84TA, he's a CROOK

Re: want a MP3 delco? READ THIS!

Yeah Ive talked with him before. Seems like he would do great work. I almost bought one but ran into engine issues that had me put the radio purchase on the back burner.

So I guess that this post is just another testimonial that this is a good guy to deal with, even though I havent bought a radio yet from him.

well, it's not a pic of it inside the car, but here it is. you can see the cord in the pic

pretty much a standard looking radio, and that's the way I like it

Hey Mark, Im doing the same thing to mine but the plug-in is killer! what multi-switch are you using to get it to work without a cassette in?

Where's the audio coming from when you unplug the cord?
What MP3 device do you have?

Re: want a MP3 delco? READ THIS!

Getting what done? Buying a cd player or converting a radio to a mp3 player?

Factory cd players are stupid expensive, I would forget about cd and just get one you can use with mp3s.

For prices, contact *84TA. I don't want to quote prices for somebody else.

Re: want a MP3 delco? READ THIS!

Find a factory unit and get it modded for the MP3 player. I loath seeing a dash cut up for the new stuff and the associated theft that goes with aftermarket systems. The stealth of the MP3 plug in is the part I really relate to.

Re: want a MP3 delco? READ THIS!

Hey Mark,I'm gonna have that done to mine also,I got in touch with 84TA and I'm meeting him in Philly in a couple of days. The thing is I can't put the jack where you did, the TA has a snap in pod cover,so I'm thinking of having it put in the face of the radio(if there's room) I don't want to mess up and drill any holes in the interior pieces."Any suggestions".

Re: want a MP3 delco? READ THIS!

in my console there a hole that is already there. I thought about using that, but honestly I don't want to have to open my console every time I need to play a tune. I keep a fabric floor mat over my lid because of the heat here in Texas, and it's kind of a pain to get in and out of it

I also thought about the ash tray. the removable insert could be altered, and if someday you want to put it back the way it was, ashtrays are a dime a dozen and you could get another one

you also could just run the cable along the console and have it come out in the area between the console and the carpet, reach down with your hand when you want it, and it's there.

I don't use a sub or an extra amp, just factory head unit with nice JBL speakers. I bet yours blows mine away, but I'm not willing to lose my hatch storage for a sub

Interesting. My sail panel speakers are 6x9, and the bass frequency isn't good enough to make effective subs

Glad you like yours!

Hate shipping,I got lucky,he's 20 minutes from me just across the bridge.I had him put it on the face on the radio,it looks good and it's convenient.I have a spare radio if for some reason it has to be original.I put a photo on my album where he put the jack,I don't know how to put a photo in the tread.
