I'm not real big on anything larger than 6x9s but I think it looks good.

Re: better pics from system build including new carpet job.

looks like you put a lot of time and hard work into it, carpet looks like it came out good.

you can get a 12" to fit lower in the well and be less noticeable, but it does take a bit of creative cutting to do. however, it does get it a bit more out of sight (thieves love a sub on display, know this unfortunately from personal experience), and you only have to cover one panel instead of all sides.

the amp is a cadence XA300.1 Its the Class D mono amp. I like it alot. 300watts rms at 2 ohms is just right for one 12.

Nope, don't like it.

While it's done to death, I prefer the sub box to be flush with the hump and cover in that area, looks more proper.

Re: better pics from system build including new carpet job.

i like it...to a degree, last time i glassed a thirdgen i tucked it down low, the bottom of the well is cake to glass in and brace properly, i gave the subs a slight angle forward on it, unfortunately no pics as my camera fell prey to a renegade cup of resin >_< the only thing im not liking about your design is the size overall, the beauty of fiberglass is to have the ability to form to damn near anything, and not have to do bulky items but good job for starting out with fiberglass! it definitely turned out better than my first endeavor!

not sure if its available to everyone but we get our glass matting and resin from select products, give it a try you might find something

Well everyones got their opinions, I was shooting for something different, and to make something that was my own idea, although i do agree that the flush style does make the system look like i was ment to be there, this by far is the best looking sub/amp setup ive made for the camaro thus far.

I couldnt afford fiber glass so MDF was what i had to use, would love to make the box fit the well though with the use of fiberglass next time.

I see you have the brackets for the privacy cover/cargo shade, either that or some limo tint with a small sticker that says Viper or Python security systems .

I actually have another 1/4 inch board attatched to the sides of the box by. it was the easiest way to line everything up and make the curve match.. ill put a post a picture tommorow so ya know what im talking about. ok?

I think you did a good job on the build, I personaly think black carpet looks better. I am a fan on the steath sub box builds , harder to see to steal, and you still have room for other stuff in the trunk

Heres the pics of how the outside of the box is put together.

This is the side when i pull it off. I used velcro strips to make it practical and easy to remove.

See I can remove every panel except the top. Thats just the main box.

This is the rear of the box near the hatch motor. You can see that the wood was only 1/4 inch. It was backing board, like what youd use on home cabinat backs.

Pic from above. The lines worked out well and its not bad looking. To make the curves i just kept cutting a little at a time with a razor knive. All you had to do is scribe the wood then bend it and it would break right on the line. I have a template of the design of the curves. Its damn near perfect to match the conture of the curve.

Then see the curve, how well it rounded. That took time but the finished product looks good and was really easy once i got one side the other was the exact same. And this route you dont have to deal with anycarpet lines at all. No corners to work the edges of carpet together. You can hide every bit and make it look seamless!!!!

The lid on the amp is also velcroed on so its easy to remove so you can take the amp out or whatever. The amp is mounted 1 inch off the ground and has a vent in the rear, which you cant see. So that the amps fan has air to breathe

Nice work but I'm just not into the giant stereo thing. I'd rather have the extra storage space.

Well im not into the storage thing since its not my daily driver. so whats to store? Everyones got there ideas of what they want in there car. Ive always had systems in my camaro and love the sound and power of it. Also im Mecp certified so since i dont work at a car audio shop i just do my own thing and play arround as much as possible trying to make the perfect balance of sound as i want it. I hate rap so its harder making Hard rock sound great with a system. If you listen to rap its easy to make the sound balanced.

That's because rapvis synthetic bass lol I've got 2 w1 10's in a baffle board now which actually sound better overall than my type r 12 in a box I built, I've got a broad range of music and with the 2 10's and a bass **** I can tune as I go, now with the mecp cert did you work at a shop at one point? I was required to get basic certified when I was hired at my job and I've got first class now but in my opinion the certification tests are pretty lame lol

Re: better pics from system build including new carpet job.

When I got the basic cert. I didnt need any shop work. Basically all book work. But then first class I worked at a shop. And I never went any further than that Cert. Even though I still want to.
I worked at a audio shop for 2 years in Toledo, Ohio. It was fun at first and was nessasary for the cert. But all I did was install car starters, radios, exc. which became boring stuff and that place eventually went under. Where I live its hard to find a job in that area. Yea Cert. Tests can be boring and lame. The Mecp books are sweet investments since ive used my intermediate book a ton of times when it came to box building and Gps devices.

putting that amp in a enclosed box could cause it to over heat and shut it off or ruin it

Rules have changed, not sure what he's running but most amps(reputable ones) are much more efficient and put out less heat and also have improved heat sinks, Ive been enclosing amps in amp racks for a while now with no problems, and no need to draw up a cooling system with fans anymore either

Its the old school surf board amps that get hot enough to shut down, granted with an amp rack there is a rise in temp but not enough to create issues

If his amp shuts down its a matter of a 10$ fan and about 10mins to fix it

Re: better pics from system build including new carpet job.

Its a class d amp which runs cooler and i also mounted the amp 1 inch off the ground so that the amps fan can blow the air and also i have a 2x4 inch hole that lets the compartment breath
Beleive me though, the amp doesnt get very hot at all. New Class D amps are like that!
